Part of the thrill that comes with the Met Gala is seeing how celebrities, stylists, and, of course, designers interpret the theme of the night. And with American Independence as 2021's prompt, we knew there would be plenty of nostalgic reference among the crowd, whether that meant stars wearing vintage items or referencing moments in history.
Top model Kaia Gerber opted for the latter when it came to her look, channeling Bianca Jagger as she walked the red carpet.
Speaking with Keke Palmer on Vogue's livestream, Gerber revealed that her glamorous Oscar de la Renta gown was actually a reference to the Halston design Jagger wore at the same event back in 1981. Once you fully take in the curly bob, voluminous floor-length skirt, and floral appliques, you can see that the resemblance between the two icons is uncanny.
Kaia isn't the only one who made jaws drop throughout the night. Plenty of stars dressed to impress for fashion's big event, making it pretty hard to pick favorites (it's all so great!).
