Keke Palmer and Sacha Baron Cohen to Star in David O. Russell’s ‘Super Toys’

Keke Palmer and Sacha Baron Cohen are teaming up for “Super Toys,” a hot sales title hitting the 2023 European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin.

Written and directed by David O. Russell, “Super Toys” follows Palmer and Cohen as a pair of “groovy ’70s toy sales reps on a life-and-death mission to save themselves, their marriage and their live-wire 12-year-old daughter while on the road in Middle America.”

Charles Roven and Matt Budman are producing the film. CAA Media Finance represents the U.S. distribution rights while FilmNation Entertainment is selling international territories.

News of the project comes as Palmer celebrates one of the most successful years of her career, following her critically acclaimed performance as Emerald Haywood in Jordan Peele’s “Nope.” Palmer was named best supporting supporting actress by the New York Film Critics Circle.

She also received rave reviews and accolades for her “Alice” and “Lightyear,” also released in 2022.

In November, the Emmy winner launched Key TV, a digital network aimed at spotlighting a new generation of creators, inspired by lessons she’s learned over a nearly two-decade career in film, television, music, hosting and on stage.

She also hosts NBC’s game show revival of “Password” and provides voices for “The Proud Family” revival, as well as “Big Mouth” and its spinoff, “Human Resources.”

In 2021, Baron Cohen earned two Oscar nominations for his performance in “The Trial of the Chicago 7” and the “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm” sequel, which he produced, wrote and starred in, bringing his total count to three.

In addition to reviving his popular Borat character, Baron Cohen also recently lent his voice to Pixar’s “Luca” and was announced to narrate the family-oriented animated special “Chelm: The Smartest Place on Earth.” The HBO Max and Cartoon Network special is produced by Baron Cohen, Greg Daniels, Mike Judge and writer Michael Koman.

Palmer is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment and Hertz Lichtenstein Young & Polk LLP; Baron Cohen is repped by CAA and Ziffren Brittenham; and Russell is also repped by CAA.

Deadline was first to report news of the sales package.
