Lidl has slashed the price of Prosecco to under £5 just in time for Valentine’s Day

LOVERS might want to pop open a bottle of bubbly on Valentine's Day next week – and Lidl is letting you do that for under a fiver.

The bargain supermarket has slashed the price of its Allini Prosecco Spumante to just £4.99 – but you have to be quick to stock up, as it won't stay that low for long.

  • Lidl, Allini Prosecco Spumante – Was: £5.99, Now: £4.99 – buy now

The 75cl bottle will usually set shoppers back £5.99, but for a limited time Lidl has slashed the price by just over 15%.

It means shoppers save only £1 on the full price, but it allows bubbly fans to pick up bottle with just the budget of a fiver.

The offer is part of Lidl's "Super Weekend" of deals, which also features discounts on chocolate and wine ahead of Valentine's too.

The store this weekend will also slash the price of its Australian Cabernet Sauvignon from £6.49 to £4.99 and its Finest dark chocolate from 79p to just 59p.

Those offers are live on Friday until Monday, but the bargain bubbly booze has been discounted for a while now, and stays at its low price beyond the weekend too.

You can cash-in on the discount in-store now and it runs all the way through to Wednesday next week.

But after February 16 the price of the prosecco will rocket back up to its nearly £6 price.

It might be worth shopping around too, as even though the budget booze is currently a very low price, you might be able to find an even cheaper offer elsewhere.

When we checked, Asda was selling a similar prosecco spumante for £5.99 but it was part of a three for 20% off deal – so if you're stocking up on more than the one bottle you could make a bigger saving of another 5%.

That deal is online and instore but you'd have to factor in extra delivery charges if you order online.

Unfortunately you can't order online at Lidl, as the budget store doesn't offer a home delivery service.

It means you'll save on any additional charges and get the cheaper bottle, but you will have to venture out to your closest branch to cash-in.

You can use Lidl's store locator tool to find out where that is.

It will be worth the visit though, as the the supermarket is offering its own dine-in offers to celebrate the loved-up day that you can pick up in store.

But Lidl has some competition from rivals, as M&S has launched its popular dine-in for £20 this year and even Morrisons has its own cheaper deal at just £15 for a dine-in three-course dinner.

Aldi's is one of the cheapest though, as the supermarket has Valentine's meal offers for just £10.

And if you're avoiding a big shop altogether, and would rather be treated to a meal out – Wetherspoons is treating couples to a budget £20 dinner for two this weekend as well.
