Major retailer launches huge closing down sale with prices starting from just £1 | The Sun

A MAJOR retailer has launched a huge closing down sale – and prices start from just £1.

The New Look Middlesborough branch is reportedly shutting up shop for good on July 8.

A shopper posted photos on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group and one shows a number of items slashed in price.

The branch is selling all dresses for £7, tops for £3, jeans and shoes for £5, knitwear for £7 and jewellery from just £1.

The post reads: "New Look in Middlesbrough! Just look at them (sic) prices."

The post has been liked over 500 times with hundreds commenting too.

It's not all bad news for the retailer though – in November last year it opened several shops across the UK.

What other retailers are closing stores in July?

A number of retailers have already closed dozens of stores between them in 2023, with more planned for July.

Supermarket chain Iceland has already pulled down the shutters on more than half a dozen shops this year.

But the retailer is also making one further closure in July too – its St David's Place branch in Swansea City Centre on July 29.

Its store in Birkenhead is closing on September 16 as well.

Meanwhile, Argos and Habitat are closing four stores between them in July.

Banks and building societies have dozens of branches earmarked for closure this month too.

Barclays is closing 33 branches, while NatWest is pulling down the shutters on 23 and Lloyds is closing nine.

Meanwhile, Halifax is shutting two branches and HSBC 27.
