‘They were on a break!’ Woman who exposed Matthew Perry’s flirty Raya video insists she had NOTHING to do with his split from fiancée Molly Hurwitz – as fans speculate the Friends star is now dating his ASSISTANT

  • Kate Haralson, 20, made headlines last month when she posted a since-deleted video of her alleged flirty FaceTime conversation with Perry, 51
  • The personal assistant claimed the chat took place in May 2020, which is when Perry is said to have briefly split with Hurwitz
  • Haralson told the celebrity gossip Instagram account Deuxmoi that ‘everyone blames’ her for Perry’s most recent breakup with his former fiancée
  • She insisted ‘they were on a break,’ using the infamous excuse from Friends
  • Perry confirmed that he and Hurwitz had called off their engagement in a statement to People on Tuesday, saying he wishes his ex the best
  • There is no suggestion that the TikTok video is the reason behind Perry’s split
  • However on Thursday, fans of the Friends star began speculating that Perry is dating his assistant Briana Brancato after they posted an image together
  • Brancato has been working for Perry for nearly six years and the two are known to have an amicable relationship

The woman who shared her private video chat with Matthew Perry on TikTok has insisted that she had nothing to do with his split from his fiancée Molly Hurwitz, saying the former couple was ‘on a break’ when he matched with her on Raya – amid rumors that the actor has actually moved on with his assistant.

Kate Haralson, 20, made headlines last month when she posted a since-deleted clip of her flirty FaceTime conversation with the Friends star, 51, a year after they connected on the elite dating app in May 2020.

The personal assistant, who was kicked off Raya for the privacy breach, told the celebrity gossip Instagram account Deuxmoi that she is now getting condemned for Perry’s breakup with Hurwitz, 29.

‘Everyone blames me lol,’ she texted the account’s anonymous administrator, who asked if Perry was with Hurwitz when he matched with her on Raya.

‘No! They were on a break,’ Haralson replied, using the infamous excuse from Friends.

Could this BE more embarrassing? The personal assistant made headlines last month when she posted a TikTok video of her alleged flirty FaceTime conversation with Perry, 51, in May  2020

‘They were on a break’: Haralson used the famous excuse from friends when she insisted Perry and Hurwitz weren’t together when she matched with him on Raya last year

Perry, who proposed to the literary manager in November last year, confirmed the split in a statement to People on Tuesday, saying ‘Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best.’

Haralson opened up about the circumstances of her virtual encounter with Perry just as rumors began to circulate that the Friends star may have moved on with his longtime assistant.

Last week the Friends star shared a photo to social with Brancato to promote his limited addition line of merch – which prompted followers to question if the pair have embarked on a romantic relationship.

In the snap, Perry is seated on the couch in his ‘Could I BE more ME?’ hoodie next to Brancato who sported a ‘could I have had a longer day’ crew neck from the star’s new collection.

‘Ready for the long weekend and an even longer bath! After a week like this, I know my team is! Shop the entire collection and let the relaxation begin,’ Perry wrote in the caption.

The Friends star also shared a separate photo with Brancato on his Instagram story asking: ‘Could I be anymore grateful for my assistant?’

One person commented on Perry’s photo calling it a ‘coincidence’ that the actor called off his engagement and then promptly ‘posted [a photo] with another girl “friend”.’

Others were more blunt with their comments, asking outright whether the pair are dating – with one even branding Perry and Brancato a ‘handsome couple’.

There doesn’t seem to be any indication however that the sitcom star and his employee are more than just boss and worker.

Brancato has worked alongside Perry for a long while now, celebrating her five year work anniversary in October of 2020, and the two are understood to have a very amicable working relationship.

However speculation about Perry’s dating life has been furious since Haralson first outed the actor for using Raya just a few weeks ago when she shared a footage of the star flirting with her over FaceTime.

Taking to TikTok, she shared footage of herself with the caption: ‘When you match w Matthew Perry as a joke on a dating app and he facetimes you and plays 20 questions with you.’

In the 16-second video, Perry is seen smiling as he asks his potential date, ‘Do you always play with your hair this much?’ to which she responds, giggling: ‘I guess so.’

Final send off: ‘Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them,’ said Perry (pictured with his ex in April), adding: ‘I wish Molly the best’

Rumors: One Instagram user joked it was a remarkable ‘coincidence’ that the actor called off his engagement and then promptly ‘posed with another girl “friend”‘

Platonic: There doesn’t seem to be any indication that things are anything but professional between the sitcom star and his employee who has worked for him for more than five years

Haralson told PageSix that she wanted to show how older men in Hollywood are ‘taking advantage’ of younger women on dating apps.

‘A lot of people were saying I’m a bully and mean for posting this, and it made me feel kind of bad, but at the same time, I feel like a lot of guys in Hollywood are talking to all these young girls and it’s something that I think a lot of people should be aware of,’ she told the outlet.

Haralson claimed the FaceTime exchange happened in May 2020, which is when Perry is said to have briefly split with Hurwitz, whom he had been dating since 2018.

She said she had matched with other celebrities before but wouldn’t ‘ever talk to older guys,’ but she thought talking to the Friends actor ‘would be funny.’

Haralson, who said she ‘never even really watched Friends,’ alleged that Perry asked her at one point, ‘Am I as old as your dad?’ She claimed she told him he was only about a year older than her father, which he ‘laughed off.’

‘I don’t think he minded that,’ she said. ‘It kind of felt weird talking to someone my dad’s age and it just felt not right, especially when he knew how young I was.’

The PA also said that she was ‘inspired’ by Nivine Jay, who posted a video of Ben Affleck in early May and the pair were in touch with each other.

Cringe: The viral video shows Perry asking his potential date, ‘Do you always play with your hair this much?’ to which she responds, giggling: ‘I guess so.’ Perry is pictured in 2016

Throwback: Perry and Hurwitz (pictured in December) were first romantically linked in 2018, with the actor gushing last year that she is ‘the greatest woman on the face of the planet’

However, Haralson said she decided to delete the video because she thinks Perry is a ‘nice guy.’ She stated that they never met up in person, though he allegedly told her that she could maybe one day ‘get a COVID test and come over.’

Raya has been dubbed the celebrity version of Tinder, as the dating app requires a membership and a vetting process, which is enticing to big movie stars like Perry.

The private, membership-based, social network application first launched as a dating app in 2015, but then added features to promote professional networking for members of the entertainment industry.

There is no suggestion that the TikTok video is the reason behind Perry’s split.

Perry and Hurwitz were first romantically linked in 2018, with the actor gushing to the outlet last year that she is ‘the greatest woman on the face of the planet.’

Back in November, Perry joyously announced his engagement to People.

‘I decided to get engaged. Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time,’ he said at the time.

Although Perry was the one to announce their engagement, Hurwitz used social media last February to confirm their relationship to the world.

Concern: The breakup comes after fans expressed their fears for Perry after he appeared to slur his speech in a promotional interview for the recent Friends reunion

‘Second year being my valentine, but his first as an Instagram influencer. HVD to my favorite,’ she wrote to Perry to celebrate the holiday, alongside a photograph of him appearing to be sound asleep, while cradling a bright yellow smiley face balloon.

Prior to going ‘Instagram official,’ Perry and Hurwitz were photographed being affectionate together outside a restaurant in West Hollywood in November 2019.

The couple also spent the 2019 Holiday season together in Los Angeles at Perry’s $35 million Century City apartment in Los Angeles.

At the time, Hurwitz shared a photograph of herself and the 17 Again actor to Instagram, labeling him as her ‘boyfriend’ in the post’s caption.

She wrote: ‘According to my parents’ custody agreement, my mother was not allowed to have a Christmas tree… Fortunately, there’s no such agreement for a daughter’s boyfriend, so Hurwitz gets a treeeeeeee!!!’

In May 2020, the pair were reported to have endured a brief split that an insider described as ‘very amicable’ but that they had ‘both decided to go their separate ways.

‘It is unclear when the pair reconciled and how closely that reconciliation occurred to their November 2020 engagement.

Emergency: However, a source revealed to The Sun that the actor’s slurred speech was due to ‘an emergency tooth procedure’ that had been performed just hours before filming

Hours before: ‘Matthew turned up to the reunion [in April] and members of his team said that he had an emergency tooth procedure that day,’ the insider recalled

It comes after fans expressed their fears for Perry after he appeared to slur his speech in a promotional interview for the recent Friends reunion.

Although some questioned whether Perry had relapsed following a past substance abuse battle, it was later revealed his slurred speech was down to recent dental work.

A source revealed to The Sun that Perry’s slurred speech was due to ‘an emergency tooth procedure’ that had been performed just hours before filming.

‘Matthew turned up to the reunion [in April] and members of his team said that he had an emergency tooth procedure that day,’ the insider recalled.

‘That was said to impact his wellbeing and also how he was feeling. [Matthew] had been in pain from what we understand, which caused the slurred speech.

‘Obviously no one wants to film after a procedure, but it happened. The feeling was one of huge sympathy for Matthew, especially in recent days given how people have reacted online. Matthew has told those around him that he is sober, and there is no need to worry.’

Keeping a low-profile: Matthew has stayed under the radar in recent years. He caused concern in 2019 when he looked disheveled in his first sighting for almost two years

Heartbreaking: ‘Just saw People interview and can’t believe how Matthew Perry looks like… seriously it breaks my heart,’ one fan wrote on Twitter after the promo clip’s release

Meanwhile, Ben Winston, who directed the reunion, had nothing but kind things to say about the comic actor following his appearance.

‘He was great,’ he said of Perry during an appearance on The Hollywood Reporter’s TV’s Top 5 podcast, released Saturday.

Winston, who is also a television producer, seemed to attribute the worried chatter among friends to a desire to be nasty.

‘People can sometimes just be unkind,’ he continued. ‘I wish they weren’t.’

Perry, who portrayed Chandler Bing in the NBC sitcom from 1994 to 2004, has battled addictions to Vicodin, methadone, amphetamines, and alcohol over the years, and he also had two stints in rehab.

Matthew has been open about his past addictions and once told the BBC he couldn’t remember three years of shooting Friends, but has since gotten sober.

He became hooked on Vicodin after a jet-skiing accident in 1997 and told People his habit became ‘out of control and very unhealthy’ afterward.

In December, his ex Kayti Edwards alleged in The Sun that when he was in the depths of his addiction he would take 80 Vicodin in one day.

Raya: The VERY exclusive dating app which approves only 8% of applications

Raya is often described as the celebrity version of Tinder, as the dating app requires a membership and a vetting process, which is enticing to big movie stars.

It  was launched in 2015 by Mike McGuiness, who at the time was a partner at Los Angeles PR company the Co-Op Agency.

The dating app describes itself as being ‘an exclusive dating and networking platform for people in creative industries.’

Users must be referred by an existing member and their application will then be voted on by a membership committee.

Only about 8% of applicants are reportedly approved.

In addition to subscription fees of $9.99 a month, the company also charges for sponsored placement of user requests.

Little is known about Raya, but in late 2016 it acquired video messaging startup Chime led by Jared Morgenstern, who was part of Facebook in the early days.

Morgenstern, who was Raya’s first investor, told TechCrunch: ‘Raya is a utility for introducing you to people who can change your life. Soho House uses physical space, we’re trying to use software.’

Other stars rumored to have used the service include Moby, Lily Allen, Cara Delevingne, Raven-Symoné, Tommy Lee, Whitney Cummings, and Chelsea Handler.
