Former Love Island star Maura Higgins loves switching up her hairstyle, sporting everything from a blonde mullet to a super short crop over the last month alone. But it’s her latest hair transformation that’s got people talking right now.
In a glamorous selfie shared to her Instagram account, the 30 year old looks different compared to her usual glam looks, with her hair tied back in two high pigtails and a single curl styled neatly on her forehead.
“Why have one pony when you can have two,” Maura captioned the post.
The post has amassed over 118k likes so far, with many fans comparing the star to DC Comics character Harley Quinn who wears her hair in a similar style – only with each ponytail coloured in a bright blue and pink shade instead.
“Cute cute….Real Harley Quinn vibes,” one person writes.
“Setting off Harley Quinn vibes,” another says.
However, for some fans Maura’s hairstyle sparked some confusion, with many believing her one stray curl was a hair or crack on their own phone screens.
“That bit of hair has annoyed the hell outta me trying to wipe it off,” one fan comments.
“I thought there was a piece of hair on my phone,” another says.
Maura’s friend and Love Island co-star Molly-Mae Hague also rushed to the comment section, writing; “Well I’m just obsessed with this.”
The star teamed her unique hairstyle with a classic winged eyeliner and a vixen red lipstick shade, which compliments her tanned complexion perfectly.
Celebrity hairstylist Carl Bembridge created Maura’s Harley Quinn-inspired look while MUA and hairstylist Suzy Clarke did her make-up.
The reality star also tagged Ann Summers in the post, causing us to wonder whether she’s filming a new campaign for the lingerie brand.
Back in spring this year, Maura starred in the brand’s campaign wearing a short platinum blonde wig, channeling her inner Christina Aguilera in the film Burlesque. In the sultry clip shared to her Instagram account, the star looked incredible, sporting various lingerie sets.
Maura is always brave when it comes to her hair and earlier this month she took to the red carpet for the Pride of Britain Awards with her locks styled in a short pixie crop with Hollywood-inspired finger waves.
Talking about the look on Instagram, Maura’s hairstylist Carl writes, “We gave the nod to old Hollywood glam with an expensive looking shine to finish & show off the hair detail. Maura let me take the risk of making her hair look like a short haircut but without cutting her hair. She has a supermodel face so I knew she could carry the short look.”
