Homebase, Wickes, and B&Q are three go-to chains for all your DIY needs, and with home improvements becoming increasingly popular as a potentially coronavirus-free summer is on the horizon, many will be making the most of the opportunity to spruce up your home and garden in relative peace. The early May bank holiday Monday is no exception, with a three-day weekend coming up fast.

DIY stores have been classed as essential retailers, meaning they have been allowed to stay open throughout the UK’s various coronavirus lockdowns

While some bank holidays see stores across the UK forced to reduce their hours, this is not the case when a bank holiday falls on a Monday.

If you still don’t feel comfortable just yet heading out into stores, all three retailers offer home delivery on goods.

As well as this, many click and collect options mean you can pick up your purchases on the same day you bought them.

B&Q

B&Q has now reopened all of its stores in Great Britain following the end of the harshest levels of restrictions in England, Wales and Scotland.

B&Q stores are usually open from anywhere between 8am to 8pm.

But times on bank holiday Monday may vary by the individual store, so check the B&Q website for details about stores near you.

Wickes

Wickes stores have also reopened all 230 stores across the UK.

Wickes stores are usually open from 7am to 8pm, and the bank holiday looks set to be no exception to the rule.

According to the Wickes website, they have heavily limited how many customers are allowed in-store at a time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Homebase

Homebases’ 150 UK stores are currently open to shoppers, and will also be open on the upcoming bank holiday Monday.

Homebase stores are usually open from 8am to 6pm on normal working days, but could vary on the bank holiday by individual store.

As ever, individual store times may vary, so check the website before you head out to get your goods.
