A new E10 petrol has launched in the UK with almost a million cars at risk of not being able to use it.
Until today (September 1), the standard type of petrol was E5, which is made with 5% bioethanol.
But now the standard will be E10 which is made with 10% bioethanol and is better for the environment.
The change comes as part of the government's plan to tackle climate change.
While the majority of cars will be compatible, it's worth checking to see if yours will be fine as it could damage your vehicle.
Cars that might not work with the petrol include "classic, cherished and older vehicles", including some from the early 2000s.
Even some mopeds, especially those with an engine size of 50cc or under, could be impacted.
The government said in total around 5% of vehicles currently on the road won't be compatible.
To check if your car will work with it, there is an E10 checker on the GOV.UK website.
The checker explained: "You'll need to know the vehicle manufacturer to use the service.
"You may also need the vehicle model, engine size and year it was manufactured. Most petrol vehicles will be able to use E10."
According to an estimate for 2020 by the RAC Foundation, there are 10 manufacturers with the highest number of incompatible cars.
These vehicles are:
- Rover – 91,624 vehicles
- MG – 75,827
- VW – 61,398
- Nissan – 55,139
- Mazda – 46,040
- Ford – 37,578
- Toyota – 36,646
- Peugeot – 27,217
- Austin – 26,368
- Triumph – 24,943
