Patti LaBelle has someone special in her life.
“His name is Mr. Cuddles, he’s my Shih Tzu — so my puppy is special,” the legendary singer told Page Six.
The 77-year-old performer — who divorced Armstead Edwards in 2003 — told us she’s not actively looking for a romantic partner and explained that, “It’s going to fall, when it falls, you know? I’ll know when it’s right. I never look, never look, you know let it fall, right?”
Significant other or not, LaBelle does have something spicy in her life.
She stars in the latest incarnation of Old Spice’s Men Have Skin Too ad campaign, which debuted in 2019. In it, she hilariously plays “Black-ish” star Deon Cole’s mother-in-law, who isn’t shy about “borrowing” his body wash.
She volunteered that she was cloaked in Old Spice deodorant, moisturizer and body wash during this interview — saying it wasn’t just a men’s product anymore.
“I’m an Old Spice girl now,” she proclaimed.
In addition to the new campaign, the “Lady Marmalade” singer next month will celebrate the 20th year anniversary re-issue of her bestselling cookbook “LaBelle Cuisine: Recipes to Sing About,” which has some new recipes as well as photos of “my grandbabies because when I did it back in the day, they weren’t here.”
The “Godmother of Soul” says the best advice for novices in the kitchen is to toss the measuring spoons and throw caution to the wind.
“If it needs a little seasoning, don’t be afraid to add seasonings,” she said. “People are afraid of garlic, fresh garlic, habanero peppers, just sea salt or whatever you want to use. … You know, not be a punk in the kitchen.”
