A mother with terminal breast cancer who moved This Morning viewers to tears when she used a cash prize she won on the show to throw her own wake, has passed away.

Heather Bone, 41, from West Sussex, won a £1,000 prize after winning a competition on the ITV show in June – and revealed to host Alison Hammond that she had just three months left to live at the time.

She appeared on This Morning three months later in August, where she revealed to hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford she had used the money to plan her own wake.

One of Heather’s son, Lewis, has announced his mother’s death on her Instagram page today, and This Morning presenter Alison Hammond led the tributes, saying Heather is now ‘on her next journey.’

‘After a long battle with cancer, Mum went in the most peaceful and perfect way last night,’ Lewis wrote.

‘Mum inspired so many people and will do for years to come. She always put others first and ALWAYS stayed positive which kept the whole family going,’ he added.

‘On behalf of Mum, she was so grateful of the support everyone gave us the past year as it kept her positive. After suffering for so long she deserves a rest. Sleep tight, Mum,’ he added.

God bless Heather on her next journey now , I’m so honoured to have met her. RIP Heather,’ This Morning’s Alison Hammond wrote.

‘Even though she knew, and had openly said this day was coming – I personally feel really sad about this. Since following this page after watching her on This Morning I have followed her journey. I send my deepest condolences to her family and friends.

‘So sad to hear this news,’ one said.

‘Aww no. God bless her. RIP Heather. Love to you all,’ another said.

Brave Heather was surprised by Alison Hammond for the Dosh On Your Doorstep competition before she told Alison about her breast cancer battle and plan to hold a farewell party to say goodbye to her loved ones.

And emotional viewers at home were left touched by her heartbreaking story and bravery, hailing her as an inspiration.

After presenter Alison, 46, stunned Heather with her appearance at her home, the mum then opened up about her tragic diagnosis and how she planned to live life to the full before she died.

It’s not clear if Alison was aware of the sad news before she visited the house.

She told Alison: ‘I got diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, I then got the all clear just before my 40th birthday, I thought things were getting back to normal, I then got told I had brain mets, so now I am getting myself organised

‘I have been told I’ve got three months to live, so I am going to have a “wake me up before I go, go” party, a party before my passing.’

Heather said the best thing about the party was ‘laughing’ with her husband and sons, but said that she was forced to spent the whole day yesterday recuperating in bed

A concerned Alison then asked: ‘How do you continue to be upbeat for your sons and your husband?’

Heather replied: ‘Because there is no point moping, it is what it is. If I mope it won’t help my family, my husband or my children. So I am in auto-mode at the moment.’

The former Big Brother star then went ahead with the quiz, with Heather bagging herself £1,000.

And after she admitted that she loves Craig David, the singer then appeared via video message wishing her a happy birthday and serenading her with a song.

In addition, This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield revealed they were gifting Heather an extra £1,000, while it was later revealed that Heather had gained more than 10,000 additional Instagram followers since her appearance on the show.

Invited on This Morning with Eamonn and Ruth in August, Heather revealed she had had her wake, and that her health kept on deteriorating.

The mum, who told the show today that her health has deteriorated further in the last few weeks, spent her prize money on throwing a final farewell party with all her friends and family on Saturday.

She was hailed an ‘inspiration’ after telling the hosts that her advice for viewers is that ‘life is too short’ – with social media users saying the chat ‘certainly put life into perspective’.

Heather and her family have kept her followers updated on her cancer journey on Instagram.

They revealed she met Craig David in person in late August at Victoria Festival, with Heather noting: ‘I might not have long too live but I’m making the best bucket list.’
