THE Nerf Super Soaker Hydra has been declared the best water gun to buy this summer thanks to superior soaking power and capacity.
Consumer group Which? tested nine of the best-selling brands looking at core factors such as range, capacity, how easy they were to use and even soaking power.
The testers named Nerf's offering best of the bunch, saying: "when it comes to water gun warfare, we don’t think many can stand up to the might of the Super Soaker Hydra."
The website even released a cool video showing exactly how the water guns were put though their paces.
The testers checked for leakages by filling all the guns to the brim, turning them upside down and shaking them.
True capacity was tested by weighing the guns before and after they were filled and then checking the number of shots.
To check soaking power, they dressed volunteers in white coveralls and then filled each gun with water dyed bright green. The more green the volunteer, the better the soaking score.
The Nerf Super Soaker Hydra topped the charts for capacity, with an enormous tank just under two litres.
It also tied with the Nerf Super Soaker Fortnite RL Water Blaster on soaking and had a range of nine metres.
The only downside was that it's not suitable for smaller children because it's so heavy.
The Which? testers said: "Its water tank is just under two litres, which makes it trickier for smaller kids to handle, but this gun requires no pumping. Just pull the front handle backwards to unleash a powerful jet of water that simply drenches your opponents.
"At an impressive range of 9 metres, you’ll also be likely to hit your opponents before they can get close enough to return fire."
Nerf's Super Soaker Hydra is available to buy at Argos for just £17.
If you've got smaller kids, Which recommended the Nerf Super Soaker Microburst 2. While this gun was outperformed in lots of the categories it was far littler which made it easier to handle.
Testers explained: "We’d certainly recommend this water gun for the littlest ones in the water fight, but older children would probably prefer it as a side-arm."
That gun is available for £10.39 from Amazon.
