There’s nothing worse than realising you made a typo after sending out an important document, like a CV.
But for one woman, the error was beyond words. Marissa Sidwell realised that she had been sending her resume to potential interviewers with a stock image.
And to make matters funnier, the picture included on the page was of a Black man in a lab coat… who looks not even a tiny bit like her.
The graduate from Florida, who finished university and is looking for employment, had been using a template to craft her CV.
Included in the template was an image of the man, which Marissa forgot to take out.
After having sent it to a few employers, the 21-year-old realised the error of her ways.
Marissa shared a TikTok showing the mishap and more than four million people tuned in to express their sympathies.
You think you’re having a bad day? I just sent this resume without changing the template picture (repost cuz y’all spammed my number) #fyp

Marissa had been applying for teacher roles, which makes the whole stock photo even funnier, considering the model is dressed as a doctor.
Viewers left plenty of jokes on Marissa’s video.
‘Sorry, that’s an old photo of me,’ quipped one, while another wrote: ‘Strength; attention to detail’.
Another said: ‘It’s the fact that he is dressed as a doctor, and your resume says student teacher that is sending me to Mars’.
‘Just imagine the confusion on the HR employee’s face’, added another.
Even Marissa was able to see the funny side soon.
And apparently, she isn’t the only one to do something like this.
One person wrote: ‘I was trying to upload my dog’s picture on the daycare website and I accidentally uploaded my weight loss progress picture instead’.
The mistake might not hinder Marissa’s recruitment chances though, as one HR staff weighed in.
They wrote: ‘HR here, I had a Zoom interview with someone who did the exact same thing with the exact same resume. We had a real good laugh though’.
Let’s hope Marissa also manages to land some interviews.
