Many people said the person who asked @mewhiskers123 for the window seat should have paid for it in advance instead of asking.

Some viewers took time to share their own plane seat horror stories.

@KellyHwang revealed: ‘I had a four seater row to myself and I let a lady take one of the seats. She proceeded to lay down * put her head ON MY LAP AND SLEEP THE ENTIRE FLIGHT.’

While @MissVictoriaa_ shared a similar nightmare scenario, writing: ‘I declined and this woman fought with me to get the row.’

Another revealed that her own seat debacle had a more positive outcome.

She wrote: ‘Some lady took my seat and I was too shy to ask her to move so I went to the flight attendant and said it’s all full so they put me in first class.’

TikToker Audrey Peters, 25, recently shared her thoughts on seat swapping and echoed similar sentiments to @mewhiskers123.

She said she was asked to move to a middle seat in order for a family to sit together.

However the social media star, who is from Miami but currently lives in New York City, laughed the request off and said that they should have booked their flight earlier.

In the six-second clip Audrey appears to be sitting in first class with a glass of champagne in hand while jetting off to Paris – although she noted on her Instagram Stories that this was not the flight on which she was asked to switch seats.

Audrey Peters, 25, also took to TikTok to share her dismay at being asked to move to a middle seat in order for a family to sit together

The video is overlaid with text which reads: ‘When a family asks me to switch seats on the plane so they can sit together.’

She smirks and toasts to the camera as she mouths along to a backing track which says: ‘Girl, f*** them kids, and f*** you too.’

The social media star, who has over 650,000 followers on the platform, uploaded the clip alongside a caption that read: ‘No I’m not switching for a middle seat book your flights earlier babes.’

Taking to Instagram a short time later, Audrey revealed that she had flown business class from New York to Paris.

And, with tickets averaging around $10,000, said that she had used her American Express platinum points to cover the cost.

As with @mewhiskers123’s clip, Audrey’s post opened the floodgates once again to fierce debate in the comments about plane etiquette.
