LIVERPOOL are on the verge of beating Arsenal to land Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic.
Anfield chief Jurgen Klopp wants the 20-year-old American to give his side’s title push an extra January boost.
Arsenal have seen an initial £35m bid rejected by the surprise Bundesliga leaders, while Chelsea have also been linked with the American in recent weeks.
But Liverpool’s opening offer of £45m is closer to Dortmund’s asking price.
And with the Merseysiders top of the Prem pile at the half-way stage ahead of their back to back crunch clashes with the Gunners and Manchester City, a bid of £50m is likely to be enough to clinch the deal as soon as the transfer window opens on Tuesday.
That would be a huge boost for Liverpool and give Klopp an extra back-up option to his first choice front trio of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool’s Boston-based owners are also keen to have USA star asset Pulisic in their ranks although Klopp has the final say on any transfer moves and his judgement will be backed by the club.
Pulisic, who has also been tracked by Bayern Munich, has only 18 months left on his current Dortmund deal.
A first-choice starter in his initial two full seasons in Dortmund, Pulisic has lost his place through injuries and the emergence of England wing sensation Jadon Sancho.
It has led to Pulisic making just five Bundesliga starts this season and a growing sense of frustration and unwillingness to negotiate a new deal means Dortmund coach Lucien Favre is ready to cash in on him for the right offer.
Klopp wants to have alternatives in case of injuries and grabbing the American would give the Liverpool boss an extra attacking dimension as he heads into the second half of the season.
