Arsenal monitoring Inacio
Arsenal are keeping tabs on Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio.
However, SunSport understands the Gunners are unlikely to be active in the January window in terms of both incomings and outgoings.
Mikel Arteta’s side have battled several injury issues already this season, especially in defence with full-backs Jurrien Timber and Takehiro Tomiyasu out until the new year.
Arteta and Arsenal are content with the defensive options they currently have, and would only be prepared to spend again should another serious injury crop up.
Yet having splashed the cash in the summer – forking out a combined £170m on Declan Rice and Kai Havertz – the North Londoners would prefer to stick rather than twist.
Centre back duo William Saliba and Gabriel are fully fit for now, while Jakub Kiwior and Ben White also provide alternative solutions in that position.
However, Arteta is likely to prioritise reinforcements at the back in the summer with 22-year-old central defender Inacio someone the North Londoners are monitoring.

Yorke on Rice
Dwight Yorke has claimed that Declan Rice will need to win some trophies in order to convince him that he was worth the £105million fee that Arsenal paid for him.
He told MegaDice.com: “Declan Rice needs to win a couple of trophies before I change my tune. I know he scored important goals against Luton and Man United, but that's what you'd expect when you spend such a large fee.
“Scoring a few important goals doesn't mean much if you finish second at the end of the season. That's not what I want my £100million man to be doing – I want him to win major trophies.
“People think that's unfair, but the fee is a hell of a lot to spend to finish second. People may think there's more to it, but you have to bring success to the club if you've joined for that amount of money. There's no point otherwise.
“Rice can score important goals, but it means nothing if Arsenal don't win trophies. I expect Rice to be like a modern Roy Keane and drag his team to silverware. If he does that, then I'll have no issues with his fee.
“I think Rice is a damn good player, but I don't see £105million in him. I suppose that's just the market, though. If Rice delivers success, then I'll be the first one to congratulate him.''

Xhaka confident Havertz will succeed
Former Arsenal star Granit Xhaka is confident that his replacement Kai Havertz will succeed at the Emirates Stadium.
Havertz arrived from Chelsea for £65m this summer after Xhaka left Arsenal for Bayer Leverkusen.
And after a slow start he seems to be finding form with three goals in his last five starts for the Gunners.
Xhaka admitted he has sympathy for how hard it is to settle in, but seemed certain he will do well for the North London outfit in an interview with The Athletic.
I know what it’s like for Kai, when people on the outside are a little bit nervous and the fans get restless. He just needs to stay calm.
It’s a new position for him and it takes time to fully understand Mikel’s philosophy, but he’s getting better all the time and his confidence is coming back now.
Everyone knows his potential but having the confidence of your club, your manager and your team-mates is everything. You always need that backing.
Arsenal supporters sometimes can take a bit of persuading to change their minds, but at the end, I won them around.
I hope for Kai that he will do the same, and that the critics will eat their words.

No Super League for English teams
English teams such as Arsenal are set to be BANNED from the European Super League.
The controversial proposal could come back into the limelight after a court determined Fifa and Uefa acted against law when they blocked its formation in 2021.
Twelve clubs tried to form a breakaway division but after much backlash the sides pulled out one by one.
But following the court's new ruling, the European Super League is back in the fold with Barcelona already revealing they are "satisfied" with the decision.
However, the British government could prevent Premier League teams from being involved in its possible comeback.
After the debacle two years ago, an independent football regulator has been put in place by the government from 2024.
They promise to stop clubs from joining "breakaway or unlicensed leagues."

Klopp issues rallying call
Jurgen Klopp has issued a rallying call to Liverpool fans ahead of Arsenal's visit to Anfield this weekend.
He said: "I was not overly happy with the atmosphere behind me,' he said. 'I was like, "What do you want?". We changed the team a lot and we dominated West Ham. If I had been in the crowd I would have been on my toes.
"Was everyone down because we didn't smash Manchester United? On Saturday (against Arsenal), we need Anfield to be on its toes from the first second.
"Without waiting for me to have an argument with the opposition coach or whatever.
"We need you. If it's too much football in December, sorry, if you're not in the right shape give your ticket to somebody else."

Toney getting 'interest'
Brentford director Lee Dykes has insisted that Ivan Toney will have interest in January.
He has also claimed that Toney is already in fine form in training and looks like he will be "better" than before his ban.
Dykes told Brentford's media team: “There should be interest, and maybe the time comes very shortly that Ivan moves on to another club.
“But they will have to pay a decent transfer fee to acquire his services because he is some talent.
“I am so excited for Ivan to come back because I see him out there in training and he is some player – it looks like he’s never been away.
“There’s a real ambition from him and I can see in his eyes that he’s going to be better than he’s ever been. I really believe that will be the case”.
