GLAMOROUS lady punters arrived looking incredible for a day at the races in Doncaster.
The sun was out as thousands flocked to the track for the first day of the prestigious Cazoo St Leger festival.
Racing fans made the most of the mini-heatwave as they donned their finest attire – soaking up every inch of sunshine.
The weather looks set to change for the end of the week, when the St Leger – the world's oldest Classic race – will be run for £700,000.
But until then punters ventured out to see some top class action on their doorstep.
And they all looked every inch the Hollywood A-lister walking around the South Yorkshire racecourse.
One racegoer arrived in a stylish straw hat and plunging white dress, accompanied by a friend in navy dress held together by a bow at the front.
Another stole the show in an eye-catching red number while posing for a photo with a pal in a floaty, green dress.
Two other punters opted for black get ups, one marrying her short outfit with some towering heels.
Another couple sipped a drink and smiled for a selfie while taking in the racing.
Doncaster bosses are delighted to see fans pile back onto the course after the chaos of last year.
FANS BACK AFTER COVID CHAOS
The first day of the 2020 festival started as part of the pilot to get crowds back at sporting events during the Covid pandemic.
But council bosses pulled the plug on that after the first day, ordering the final three to be staged behind closed doors.
Doncaster's mayor Ros Jones warned at the time the event posed a 'major risk' as coronavirus still raged all over the country.
There were fewer concerns 12 months on though, with the country getting back to normal.
Chiefs hope some 50,000 will attend throughout the week, with the official Ladies Day coming on Thursday.
Those who enjoyed the scenes on Wednesday were treated to some thrilling finishes, none more so than in the Legends race.
BOSSES PLAN FOR 50,000 PUNTERS
Iconic jockeys Barry Geraghty and Richard Johnson came out of retirement for one more clash.
But victory went the way of Gary Bardwell, who stole the show with his brilliant interview afterwards.
Asked how he prepared to ride his first winner since February 2003, the retired jockey quipped: "I’ve been in training for six weeks in the gym, running every night. No drink, no sex and all that."
