Man Utd and Leeds join for touching tribute to former star Gordon McQueen as captains including Varane wear his shirt | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED and Leeds United put their rivalry aside for a touching tribute to former star Gordon McQueen.

Captains from each side, including Raphael Varane, wore his shirt ahead of their friendly in Oslo.

Varane and Leeds skipper Liam Cooper wore the shirts as they shook hands in the centre circle prior to kick-off.

A minute's applause was also held as an image of McQueen was displayed on the big screen at the Ullevaal Stadion.

McQueen passed away at the age of 70 last month following a battle with vascular dementia.

He won the league during six years with Leeds, playing in the club's famous side under Don Revie.

The defender later moved to rivals United, where he would spend seven years from 1978 to 1985.

After retiring, McQueen had a brief spell in management before moving into punditry with Sky Sports.

The friendly between United and Leeds in Oslo is the two clubs' first match since his passing.

New signing Mason Mount is making his first start for the Red Devils in Norway after completing his move from Chelsea.
