Why isn't George North playing for Wales against Scotland in the Six Nations and when will he return?

WALES have a tough fixture away to Scotland this weekend, which has got even tougher due to the absence of George North.

North scored a crucial try as Wales came from behind to beat 14-man Ireland last weekend but he'll have to wait to make his 100th cap.

Why is George North not playing for Wales against Scotland?

George North recovered from an eye injury picked up against Ireland, only to be ruled out with a foot injury.

George Navidi is also out with a neck injury while Jonathan Davies has an ankle problem.

And Josh Macleod was chosen to start against Scotland only to injure his achilles half an hour later.

Tomos Williams (hamstring), Hallam Amos and Johnny Williams (head) are also out.

Wales head coach Wayne Pivac said: “There has been a lot of time spent in the medical room, I’ve got to tell you.

“Josh is getting his neck treated and George has had a scan on his foot.

“George is over the eye injury that he picked up in the Ireland game, so that was pleasing.

“He’s got a foot injury and, hopefully, he’ll be right for the England game. We’re treating the players as if they’ll be okay in time for that fixture.”
