BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood said that while some areas of the UK will see some fog on Tuesday morning, most will see drier and warmer weather after weather warnings and intense rain have battered the country. High pressure moving over the UK will bring settled weather with temperatures reaching 25C towards the end of the week. Western regions of the UK would see some showers as a weather front moves in but will soon dissipate as northern winds direct it away from the country.
Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Ms Kirkwood forecasted: “We’re starting [Tuesday] off with some patchy fog, visibility is poor at the moment across parts of Cornwall but for most it’s going to be a drier day.
“Slightly warmer than yesterday and a bit more sunshine but there is still a few showers in the forecast.
“We’ve got some already across the Greater Manchester area in through Wales, a few coming up through the Channel Islands into southeast England and also some across northeast Scotland.
“Now what’s happening today is we’ve got this ridge of high pressure building across which is why things will be more settled.

“But there’s low pressure in the Atlantic, with its attendant fronts, which are going to come our way later on tonight.
“So first thing this morning we’ve got that fog that will lift, out showers drifting eastwards but there aren’t going to be many of them.
“Coming in across the southeast will fade but we’ll see further showers develop across northeast Scotland and here they could be heavy and also thundery.
“One or two showers in Northern Ireland but a fairly dry day for you, across the east coast of England, especially the northeast, we could see some showers but a lot of dry weather across England and Wales with just the odd shower.

“The temperatures today, getting up to 20C to 23C, 24C.
“As we head on through this [Tuesday] evening and overnight, we will have those showers across the Northeast for a time but then the winds going to pick up out towards the west.
“The cloud will thicken, we’ll see some light rain and some drizzle coming our way before the end of the night.
“Temperatures ranging from about 11C to 14C to start the day tomorrow [Wednesday] morning.
“So talking of tomorrow, eastern areas getting off to a bright start there might be some patchy mist and fog around first thing.

“But in the West, it is going to be fairly cloudy with this rain turning more persistent as it moves steadily towards the east.
“Behind it with some late brightness for Northern Ireland and also the rest of Scotland and if the cloud remains broken for long enough we could hit 25C somewhere in the southeast.
“And that will be the first time for a couple of weeks since July, we’ve not had a 25C in August so far.”
Ms Kirkwood also forecasted Thursday will remain warm and dry for many with the odd shower but it would not be as heavy or sudden as we’ve seen in recent days.
She adds the southeast could see more temperatures around the 25C mark with it being windy up north.
