Boston Bruins ‘heartbroken’ after David Pastrnak and Rebecca Rohlsson’s announced death of six-day-old son

THE Boston Bruins have paid tribute to star David Pastrnak whose baby boy died last week.

The NHL player shared the devastating news that baby Viggo died just six-days-old in an Instagram post in the early hours of Monday morning.



"We have an Angel watching over us and we call him SON. You will be loved FOREVER," Pastrnak posted alongside a black-and-white picture of Viggo's feet.

"Please respect our privacy as we are going through these heartbreaking times."

Pastrnak confirmed that his son passed away on June 23, just under one week after he was born.

Pastrnak and his girlfriend Rebecca Rohlsson asked for privacy during their grieving, calling the passing "heartbreaking times."

Following the tragic announcement, fans and friends flooded the star's Instagram account with well-wishes and condolences.

The couple did not announce how their baby passed away.

The Bruins released a brief statement on Monday saying the club and players were "heartbroken" by Viggo's passing.

"David and Rebecca are a part of our family and we share in their loss. Please keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy during this very difficult time," the team tweeted.


Pastrnak, nicknamed "Pasta," just finished his seventh hockey season with the Boston Bruins.

In the last year, he has played a total of 48 games and was third in the team with a total of 48 points.

He achieved a total of 20 goals and 28 assists, leading the team with 15 points in 11 playoff games.
