There was a time when the romantic allure of the male eco-warrior wasn’t terribly high.
They probably didn’t own a car, hygiene might not have been a primary concern and as for their shoes – well, it’s doubtful they were the finest leather.
Today, though, we don’t have to deny ourselves to be green, and so a study has found eco-conscious men actually seem more attractive than those who shop conventionally.
Researchers at Groningen University in the Netherlands showed 483 participants pictures of 12 people and told them they had bought products such as a car, shoes or a dishwasher, that were either green or normal. Pictured, an electric car

Participants then rated the people as potential partners and were also asked about their own attitudes to sex.
Lead researcher Gonzalo Palomo-Velez pointed out that there was no correlation between being ‘more sexually restricted’ and preferring green products.
