UK weather forecast: Rain for many in north and west
October’s highly anticipated mini heatwave is set to bring a belated taste of summer, with “unseasonably warm” air moving across the country from the south this weekend.
Weather forecasters have tracked the jet stream’s movement over the last few days, observing the atmospheric wall of wind as it moves northwards, creating space for the unusual blast of heat.
The Met Office has identified “isolated spots” that could even see the mercury climb as high as 27C, close to the UK’s all-time October record.
Forecasters have identified the exact days people can expect temperatures to rise over the next week. And they have warned that October is on track to exceed its historical average.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Jason Nicholls, Lead International Forecaster at Accuweather, said the “warmest stretch” of the coming hot spell would start from today (October 6).

He added that it would likely last at least four days, two into the following week.
Mr Nicholls said: “It will be warmer than normal through at least Tuesday of next week. The warmest stretch will be Friday into Monday.
“A front around the middle of next week can bring some cooling with temperatures briefly back to near historical averages late next week.”
“Temperatures should quickly rebound to above historical averages for the second weekend in October.
The forecaster added: “Overall, the month of October is likely to average warmer than historical averages.” The Met Office has said the jet stream will usher in the highest temperatures on Sunday, October 8.
Meteorologist Alex Burkill said the mercury will soar to “26C or even 27C” in some areas.
He said: “For many further south it will be a fine, dry day on Saturday with temperatures getting to highs of around 25C, which is unusually warm for the time of year.
“By Sunday, it’ll be a more widely dry and sunny day for many. Highs or around 26C or even 27C in isolated spots is possible.”
