Harry and Meghan may make ‘Spare on steroids’ as earnings fall over Spotify loss

The disappearance of major revenue streams for Harry and Meghan could make them more dangerous to the Royal Family, a royal expert reckons.

The news comes following the announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be going in a different direction to Spotify, through which they previously released one series of Meghan’s podcast Archetypes.

Now though, with this done, a media insider has claimed this could lead to the Duke making more revelations about the Royal Family.

The deal is said to have been worth around $20million (£15million), but the rumours of the Sussexes not being as productive as had been hoped are considered to be part of the reason for the two firms “mutually” going their separate ways.

Now though, with the deal gone, the royals could now threaten to do “Spare on steroids,” in reference to Harry’s explosive tell-all memoir that spilt the beans on many of the private goings on in Buckingham Palace.

In a piece written in the Telegraph, associate editorCamilla Tomineyacknowledged that some people would celebrate the podcast had met its end on Spotify – but shared a warning with the Palace.

She noted: "The Palace powers-that-be should perhaps be mindful that the more the Sussexes' earning power recedes, the more dangerous they could become.

"While the Duke may have said all he wants to in his autobiography Spare and accompanying interviews (although he has claimed he has enough material for a second book), the Duchess is clearly still brimming with 'content' that is seemingly bursting to come out.

"And while a great deal of it can easily be dismissed as word salad, she's never been afraid of adding a splash of vinegar dressing when discussing her royal relatives."

She continued: "So the Palace’s supporters are celebrating a pyrrhic victory if they think the Sussexes’ de-Spotification is a good thing.

"The more desperate the duo are to land new deals, the more demanding their paymasters may be about the type of content they provide. Think Spare on steroids."

The wealth of the royals in the context of some of their neighbours is something that has been thoroughly covered – including by Tina Brown who has written a pair of books about Princess Diana, who noted their $14million Montecito pad "is a humble cottage compared to what these other people have".
