A RETIRED couple who won the lottery are set to invest their winnings in very different ways.
Patricia Willert and John Lantz of St. Mary’s, Ontario, Canada won Instant Crossword’s top prize of $50,000 (£39,822) this week as their regular day turned extraordinary.
The retirees have been playing the lottery together for over 20 years but it is only now that they have finally struck gold.
Willert, 72, and Lantz, 79 were just sat at home when they checked their tickets on the OLG app.
Usually, they'd play Lottario, Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max, but this time they'd gone for Instant tickets.
After purchasing them at Stratford Variety on Downie Street in Stratford, Ontario, they would never guess what would happen next.

“I’m usually in charge of scanning the tickets while Pat looks over my shoulder,” Lantz told Daily Hive while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their lottery winnings.
“When we discovered we won big, we couldn’t believe it and began to scream,” added Willert.
“All I was doing was absorbing Pat’s excitement!” said Lantz.
However, the couple have revealed that they have very different plans for how they'll spend their half of the jackpot.
