A longtime DJ was shot and killed in Denver while working as a security guard at a strip club.
Jason Perry, 46, died at the scene when he was shot in the 200 block of South Federal Boulevard on Tuesday night, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
“He was a DJ and he doubled as a security guard,” said Mary Dann McNamee, Perry’s aunt who lives in California.
Perry was working security at Dandy Dan’s Gentleman’s Club on Tuesday.
Perry enjoyed his DJ work because it allowed him to entertain a wide array of people, McNamee said. Perry went into security work, in part, so he could help people.
“He is really a big gentleman of service,” McNamee said. “He liked creating memories and being helpful to people as well.”
Perry was working security the night he was shot, McNamee said.
Denver police on Thursday said no arrest has been made in the ongoing homicide investigation.
Perry received a security license on June 14, 2022, with the Million Dollar Corp., according to city records. He was not licensed to carry a firearm as part of the job.
Million Dollar Corp. owns and operates Dandy Dan’s Gentleman’s Club, 214 S. Federal Blvd. The club employs 10 security guards, according to city records.
