Kate felt ‘lost’ and had to ask for help on first shopping trip for George

Kate Middleton makes Royalty look easy but a charming anecdote has come out that shows in many ways she's just as clueless as the rest of us when it comes to one thing – shopping for a new baby.

Just after the birth of Prince George in 2013, Kate was out shopping for new clothes for the future king and, as these types of things turn out, it all got a bit too much for her.

In fact, speaking to Hello magazine, renowned designer Amaia Arrieta said the Duchess' visit to her store had been one marked by trepidation.

She recalled: "The first time she came into the shop she was with her mother.

"It was quite funny because she said, “I’ve just had a baby and I’m a little lost. Would you be able to help me?"

It was a good thing Kate had mum Carole Middleton with her that day, who has always proved in keeping her on her toes.

Earlier this month, Carole's DIY spirit came to the rescue during Kate's scaled-down 40th birthday celebrations.

Kate marked the milestone on January 9th and had a low-key celebration with her family including Prince William and little future-king George, Louis, and Princess Charlotte at the Cambridges’ home in Norfolk.

Carole was also in attendance and showed off her amazing decorations on the PartyPieces Instagram account.

As you can expect, no expense was spared for the Royal bash although there were a few down-to-Earth touches here and there.

Carole showed fans the wide array of decorations she had painstakingly provided which included three multi-coloured walkways and strings of confetti.

She’d also invested in some paper plates which said ‘Let’s party’ on them – they're believed to be a bargain at £3.99 which is reassuring for everyone who loves a rose gold celebration.
