Labour shadow minister received a £5,000 donation from the author of Fifty Shades of Grey

A Labour frontbencher received a £5,000 donation from Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James, it emerged last night.
The money from the bestselling British novelist, said to be worth more than £100million, whose erotic works have thrilled and shocked millions, will be used to fund a political adviser in shadow mental health minister Rosena Allin-Khan’s office.
The donation, first uncovered by Politico, appeared in the latest register of MP’s financial interests under the author’s real name Erika Mitchell.
The Fifty Shades trilogy author has previously called for Brexit to be reversed and is a vocal backer of the NHS.

A Labour source joked: ‘It’s there in black and white. If there are any issues, refer it to the whips’ office.’
Ms Mitchell becomes one of several private donors to have helped bolster the party’s election war chest ahead of next year.
In May Rishi Sunak revealed his appreciation for Jilly Cooper, who has written a string of popular racy romance novels.
