A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a Morrisons worker was allegedly stabbed multiple times in front of customers.
The 34-year-old woman is in a critical condition after she was allegedly attacked at the supermarket in Jersey shortly after 1pm on Saturday.
Armed cops swarmed the area in Castle Quay on the St Helier waterfront, which was crowded with people doing early Christmas shopping.
Police later said that a man had been arrested and was in custody.
States of Jersey Police has now confirmed a 55-year-old suspect has been charged with attempted murder.
He is due to appear in court on Monday.

A police spokesman said: "Tonight (19 November), police charged 55-year-old Trevor Robert John Green with attempted murder.
"He will remain in custody overnight and appear in the Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
"The 34-year-old female remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition."
Officers cordoned off the area and set up crime tents outside the store, which was evacuated.
