A man has been arrested for allegedly bashing a woman's head in with a rock and disembowelling her body as part of a human sacrifice in the US.

Ethan Kyle Myers, a 26-year-old Texas man, was taken into custody after 36-year-old Sarah Hopson was found dead.

Deputies from Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 4:00pm on Sunday (November 13) in Joaquin, Texas.

When they arrived at the scene, they found Hopson deceased with all of her fingers and toes been removed along with both of her ears.

The amputated body parts are thought to have been found inside a clear freezer bag placed between Hopson’s legs while she also appeared to have sustained a large impact wound on the right side of her head.

Two others, Allen Price and Teresa Louviere, were also arrested in connection to Hopson’s death.

The pair had requested a welfare check on the woman, reportedly telling officers: “Ethan Myers had done something to Sarah Hopson.”

They said Myers had been staying at their home and began acting strange before fleeing the house covered in blood.

According to Price, Myers had been involved in “cult activity.”

Later that day, police spoke with Myers’ mother who said her son told her that Hopson had agreed to "sacrifice her" at her request.

His mother is also reported to have said her son “hears voices and is satanic” and that he was hiding out in the woods.

Investigators at the scene reportedly found Hopson’s body in a bedroom rolled up into the middle of a carpet next to plastic bags filled with cleaning supplies.

Price and Louviere are both being held on $250,000 bond with Myers held at the Shelby County Jail on $1.25 million bond.
