A woman who was left mortified when her date suddenly stopped replying to her texts found out he had been sent to prison – but didn’t let that get in her way of trying to meet him.

Julia Kassel’s incredible story has been seen more than 1 million times on TikTok after she shared a video explaining exactly what happened.

She said she had been talking to the guy for three months while she was in high school and it all seemed to be going swimmingly.

But one day, she “heard nothing” and was “completely ghosted”. Julia decided to message all his friends to ask where he had gone to.

“They said the same thing surprisingly,” she said. “They hadn’t heard from him for a few days so I was like ‘wait a minute, is this mother trucker in jail?”

It turned out her date was in fact behind bars somewhere in the US but instead of letting it be, Julia found a nifty way to go and visit him.

“I know I’m stupid but I heard that the law club was going to take a field trip to local county jail,” she said.

“Yes, I did exactly what you’re thinking. I joined the law club, went to every single meeting, participated in every single event just so at the end of the semester I could go to the county jail on a field trip.”

But unfortunately for Julia, things didn’t quite go to plan when she finally got inside the prison.

In an update video, she explained that when they arrived, her teachers separated the students so that all the girls would be going to visit the women’s side of the prison while the boy should be visiting the men's.

“I’m like ‘no, teacher I need to go to the man’s side, please don’t do me like this’,” she recalled.

“She’s like ‘why Julia, why do you need to go to the man’s side?’

“‘Because I just do’.” Her teacher stood firm, explaining staff didn’t want overage male inmates “staring at younger girls”.

“So in the end, I did all of that and I didn’t even get to see him,” a despairing Julia added.

“So, the moral of the story is never chase a man, especially one who is in jail because you know he’s not good for you especially when you’re in high school.”

Unsurprisingly, Julia’s story has shocked the world of TikTok.

After seeing the culmination of what happened, one viewer simply wrote: “I’m devastated.”

Many others asked what her man had done to find himself behind bars.

Julia replied: “He was 19 and he was the getaway driver of something dumb. He only went for like five months.”
