Mel B has entered into a spat with a local radio station, BBC Radio Newcastle, as she hit back after the Spice Girls were accused of miming during their performance.

Hitting back: Mel B hit back at a local radio station, BBC Radio Newcastle, after the Spice Girls were accused of miming during their performance in Sunderland on Thursday night

But Scary Spice Melanie Brown was having none of it and quickly fired back on Twitter, telling the show: ‘FYI we don’t mime pls correct yourself!! You guys are nice.’

Mel B had taken to the stage in Sunderland along with Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Chisholm as part of their sell-out Spice World reunion tour.

Commenting again on the possibility the girls were miming radio host Anna said: ‘I am fine with that [miming]. ‘You do not go to see Britney Spears or the Spice Girls for their wonderful voices. You go to see the show.’

While accusing the Spice Girls of using pre-recorded vocals, Anna praised Mel B’s style, but posited that that the singer had had ‘too much work done.’

Setting the record straight: But Scary Spice was having none of it and quickly fired back on Twitter, telling the show: ‘FYI we don’t mime pls correct yourself!! You guys are nice’

She told her listeners: ‘Scary was in a full on leopard skin outfit. She looked phenomenal. But if I am going to be honest, quite a lot of work done, everywhere.

‘A bit like she had been in a wind tunnel. Too much. I was at the back and I could still see it.’

When Anna, who co-hosts Anna and Alfie at Breakfast, realised Mel B had Tweeted the programme, she added: ‘I did say I thought Mel was fantastic. I thought the gig was incredible. I was just very, very honest about one particular performance.’

Outspoken Anna also had some choice words to say about Geri Halliwell, criticising her performance and weight-loss.

Wow! While accusing the Spice Girls of using pre-recorded vocals, Anna praised Mel B’s style, but posited that that the singer had had ‘too much work done’

Scathing: Outspoken Anna also had some choice words to say about Geri Halliwell, criticising her performance and weight-loss

The radio host told her listeners: ‘I do not think Geri could have carried off the solo bits. Can I take my gloves off? She was not good. She was not a good singer. She was not a good dancer.

‘She had lost so much weight, for me I just wanted to take her for a stottie cake.’

Media consultant Jane Taylor, 61, who had been in the audience with her daughter and some friends, added: ‘We did wonder if the girls were miming. Then, one of them hit a wrong note, which seemed to prove otherwise.

‘Maybe they were singing along to pre-recorded tracks, but none of us really cared. We didn’t go to the concert to hear amazing singing, we went for the experience.

Ouch! The radio said: ‘I do not think Geri could have carried off the solo bits…. She was not good. She was not a good singer. She was not a good dancer. She had lost so much weight’
