EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt’s divorce from estranged wife Beverley Sharp ‘has turned toxic as she has accused him of not giving her a fair deal’
Adam Woodyatt’s divorce from his estranged wife Beverley Sharp has reportedly turned toxic as he is said not to be giving her a fair deal.
The couple separated in August 2019 after 22 years of marriage, but news of their split only came to light a year later when it was believed they had recently started telling friends about their decision.
But it was reported by The Sun on Saturday that Beverley has been forced to get lawyers involved to help her in their divorce proceedings, as he has been accused of taking an extended break from the soap to ‘reduce his income’
Split: EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt’s divorce from estranged wife Beverley Sharp ‘has turned toxic as she has accused him of not giving her a fair deal’, it was reported on Saturday
A source speaking to the publication claimed: ‘Despite what he’s saying publicly, she’s had to get lawyers involved to fight her corner. The feeling is he’s not offering Bev a fair deal.
‘If it is the case that he was trying to reduce his income, it looks like it might have back-fired because Covid is likely to have cut his income a lot more than he anticipated with so many shows having to be cancelled.’
The Sun also reported that insiders of the soap felt Adam’s decision to take the break from the soap was for monetary purposes, as they suggested: ‘People have been speculating that it could be so he can get away with paying less in the divorce.’
MailOnline has contacted Adam’s representative for a comment.

Adam and Beverley have been married since 1998 and have two children – Jessica, 27, and Samuel, 23.
A spokesperson for the actor said in August: ‘Beverley and Adam separated in August [2019] and we ask that the family’s privacy is respected.’
He is best known for his role as Ian Beale on EastEnders which he has had since the soap’s first episode in 1985.
In November, Adam was seen back on set for the first time since news of his split as he filmed dramatic cemetery scenes alongside co-star Letitia Dean (Sharon Watts).

While it has been reported that Adam was making a return to the soap after taking a planned extended break, sources have told MailOnline that it is yet to happen.
In August it was claimed Adam left his estranged wife ‘blindsided’ when he ended their 22 years marriage.
Friends close to Beverly said that the soap star has shown her ‘no respect’ after he walked out of their family home with no explanation.
According to The Sun, Adam has remained radio silent on the split for the sake of their children; Jessica and Samuel, but their break-up has been anything but ‘amicable’.
A source said: ‘Bev has kept a dignified silence for the sake of the children but this isn’t the amicable split that’s being portrayed.
‘Adam walked out on Bev nearly a year ago without explanation. She didn’t even know where he’d gone. She’s only seen Adam once since he left and she’s no idea why he walked out on her. He’s shown her no respect at all.
‘The media briefings all seem to be about protecting Adam’s reputation and that of EastEnders. Bev’s obviously hugely upset about the way she’s been treated.’
