Billi Mucklow and football star Andy Carroll have confirmed their son, Arlo, has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
Taking to Instagram, former TOWIE star Billi, 35, posted a carousel of images of her little boy as she issued a heartfelt update on his condition. She confirmed she and her retired professional footballer husband Andy, 34, found out their "beautiful" son had type 1 diabetes just two weeks ago.
The reality star continued: "Wow there is so much to learn, lots of life changes. We’ve had amazing support from our Diabetic Team to help us learn and understand how to care for Arlo."
The mum went on to list symptoms Arlo displayed, which included the 'four t's': "thirsty, thinner, tired and toilet (constantly needing to wee mostly through the night)", and added: "We’re lucky we caught it early. He’s just been fitted with @dexcomuk G7 CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor) so far it’s a game changer."
Billi then said: "We couldn’t be prouder and love our little boy more he’s been so brave, happy and took it all in his stride. Me And Daddy will do everything we can to make sure your life is everything and more. Nothing will ever hold you back! We’ve got this".
Proud dad Andy said: "That’s my boy!!" The range of photos shared offer a little insight into Arlo's experience in the hospital following his diagnosis. In one, the youngster smiles as he shows off his Continuous Glucose Monitor.
In another, he could be seen laying in a hospital bed while watching something on a propped up tablet. One image shows him kitted out in a grey co-cord with a pair of beige Crocs on his feet as he offers a thumbs up to the camera.
Fans and friends alike flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts. Fellow former TOWIE star Ferne McCann said: "Oh bless him", and added a string of blue hearts.
TV and radio presenter Adam Smithy said: "firstly and most importantly I hope Arlo is ok. Secondly I’m a type 1 diabetic myself so can relate hugely to ur post. I'm also as an honorary patron for JDRF (the biggest type 1 diabetic charity in the country) and an ambassador for Dexcom. I also use the Dexcom G7. Just wanted to message to say there are some amazing people that will help and I’m always on the end of the phone if you ever have any questions. Sending love Smithy".
Football pundit Matthew Jarvis commented: "You got this Arlo!" One follower penned: "Aww I’m sorry this has happened my daughter has type 1 diabetes so I completely understand how you must feel sending hugs to you all".
The famous couple have dated for several years, but only tied the knot in June 2022 as part of a lavish and fairytale ceremony at the Four Seasons hotel in Hampshire. They wed in front of their friends and families, including Billi's close pal and fellow former TOWIE star Cara Kilbey, 34, who gave fans a glimpse inside the wedding on Instagram.
Billi and Andy share children Arlo, Wolf and Marvel Mae together. Andy is also father to daughter Emilie Rose and son Lucas from a previous relationship.
