BRIT Awards 2021: ‘I didn’t f*****g write it!’ Lewis Capaldi leaves fans in hysterics with his expletive-laden speech despite it being CENSORED by bosses
Lewis Capaldi’s surprise appearance at the 2021 Brit Awards left viewers in hysterics on Tuesday, after his expletive-laden speech was heavily censored by bosses.
The singer, 24, who took to the stage to present British Album, was muted multiple times after dropping the F-bomb during the live ceremony, despite his speech being aired after the 9pm watershed.
Despite his outburst, many fans took to social media to praise ‘hilarious’ Lewis for his foul-mouthed outburst, as the singer has been noticeably absent from the spotlight in recent months while working on his second album.
Look who it is! Lewis Capaldi’s surprise appearance at the 2021 Brit Awards left viewers in hysterics on Tuesday, after his expletive-laden speech was heavily censored by bosses
As he took to the stage, Lewis attempted to bresh off the huge cheers from fans in the audience, telling them repeatedly to ‘shut up.’
The Someone You Love Me star’s began: ‘Hello motherf***ers!’ before being hastily muted by ITV bosses.
He said: ‘Listen guys, I’m f****ng sweating! It’s like a swamp down there I’m telling you, sweaty b******s hello Brit Awards!
‘It’s great to be here tonight, it’s just great to be out of the house to be honest, it’s been a great year for albums, mostly because I haven’t f*****g released one.’
What did he say? The singer, who took to the stage to present British Album, was muted multiple times after dropping the F-bomb during the live ceremony
The rest of Lewis’ speech was intermittent with muted parts as producers tried to block his profanities with the sound eventually returning as Lewis said: ‘Sorry, I was reading off a card here – ”how is everyone doing?”
Censored again Lewis added: ‘And obviously let’s also hope that Scotland win at the Euros! Aye! I didn’t f*****g write it! I’m just doing a job!’
After introducing the nominees, Lewis got in one more expletive, clearly took fast for producers attempting to mute his speech, adding: ‘Some good s***.’
Cheeky! He said: ‘Listen guys, I’m f****ng sweating! It’s like a swamp down there I’m telling you, sweaty b******s hello Brit Awards!’
The star’s cheeky behaviour left viewers in hysterics, with one writing: ‘If someone could please share Lewis Capaldi unmuted that would be fab.’
Another wrote: ‘Trying to lip read Lewis Capadi because #brits2021 think they have to mute the audio after 10pm.’
A third also penned: ‘ LEWIS CAPALDI LITERALLY STARTED HIS SPEECH BY SAYING ‘HELLO MOTHERF*****S ON BRITS AWARDS.’
‘Lewis Capaldi’s ‘hello motherf-*audio muted* IM SO FUC-*audio muted* is how the Brits is supposed to be,’ an amused fan said.
We can’t hear him! The rest of Lewis’ speech was intermittent with muted parts as producers tried to block his profanities
Despite much of the ceremony taking place after the watershed, BRITs bosses were clearly keen to avoid the use of any crude language, as they also had to mute host Jack Whitehall during one of his more naughty quips.
The comedian appeared to be referencing the awards show’s organised sat in the corporate boxes at the top of the O2 Arena, before his speech was suddenly censored.
According to the subtitles on the ITV Hub, Jack had joked about ‘the corporate w***ers in the boxes.’
We love it! However the star’s cheeky behaviour left viewers in hysterics, with many praising his ‘hilarious’ appearance on the show

How did BRIT Awards go ahead during the Covid pandemic?
The 2021 BRIT Awards marked the first live music event in the UK since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The indoor ceremony and live show formed part of the Government’s scientific Events Research Programme.
Enhanced testing approaches will examine how events can take place without the need for social distancing after all restrictions are lifted on June 21.
4,000 tickets were made available for the live ceremony, just one fifth of the venue’s 20,000 capacity, with 2,500 of those being given to key workers.
The BRITs will play an important role in paving the way for the return of live music at scale as the UK emerges from the past year’s restrictions.
Audience members were not socially distanced or required to wear face coverings once seated inside the arena, though they were required in communal areas such as the toilet or main concourse.
All attendees were allowed to purchase alcohol and concessions once inside the O2 Arena.
Attendees were also required to follow existing Government guidance when travelling to the venue and adhere to rules set out by the event organisers.
Among the rules, attendees had to provide proof of a negative lateral flow test result to enter the venue, and said test had to be taken at an asymptomatic testing site within 36 hours of the ceremony.
Upon arrival at the venue, all attendess were asked to take a PCR test, and will then take another test five days after the ceremony
It’s hoped this will gather further evidence on the safety of indoor settings, reduced social distancing and the removal of non-pharmaceutical interventions like face coverings.
The sound returned as Jack said: ”I think this is the moment when I won’t be asked back next year.’
A performance by Headie One also fell victim to the BRITs censors, with their energetic showcase being muted multiple times due to explicit language.
In an explosion of colour and optimism, the 2021 BRIT Awards celebrated the achievements of British and international artists over the last 18 months.
The awards ceremony truly belonged to Dua Lipa, 25, as the evening saw her scoop the accolade for Female Solo Artist and the Mastercard British Album of the Year Award for her lockdown hit Future Nostalgia.
This year’s Rising Star award winner Griff was handed the baton for the honour by 2020’s Rising Star winner Celeste, who herself was up for three further awards.

And Arlo Parks was crowned Breakthrough Artist, one of the three awards the star was nominated for, after what has been an incredible year for the young London artist.
She also made her debut BRITs performance with an elegant rendition of Hope and decorated the set as a sunflower field in a nod to the name of her debut album.
The most nominated girl band in BRIT Award history, Little Mix, finally bagged the title of British Group and made history as the first-ever girl band to win, having been up for the award three previous times.
Meanwhile, the International Group category followed a similar suit, with the California girlband HAIM in attendance to accept their award.
