Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is knocked off Netflix’s top spot by The Watcher starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale… and BOTH shows are from Ryan Murphy

Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has been knocked out of the top spot on Netflix’s Top 10 List.

First place is now taken by dark stalker movie The Watcher which stars Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale, according to Forbes.

Both shows are from writer and producer Ryan Murphy.

It was also pointed out that neither of the programs performed particularly well with critics, although audience viewership rates were strong with both shows.

Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story was centered on the crimes of the prolific serial killer, which took place between 1978 and 1991.

The criminal and cannibal, who was ultimately beaten to death in prison in 1994, was portrayed by Ryan Peters, who previously collaborated with Murphy on several seasons of American Horror Story.

Other cast members included Niecy Nash, Richard Jenkins and Molly Ringwald.

The limited series ran for a total of 10 episodes, which were all released on September 21.

Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story was an immediate hit with viewers, and it became the ninth most popular English-language series on the streaming platform.

The program, however, received mixed reviews from critics, and it currently holds a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 

The series was also met with controversy, with many labeling it exploitative for its dramatized depiction of the killer’s crimes.

The show was unseated by The Watcher, which was released on Netflix on Thursday.

The program is based on Reeves Wiedeman’s article The Haunting of a Dream House, which was published in The Cut in 2018.

The Watcher follows a family that moves into a new house and is subsequently terrorized by a stalker.

The series starred performers such as Bobby Cannavale, Naomi Watts and Mia Farrow, among others.

The Watcher ran for a total of seven episodes, with most being co-written by Murphy and Brennan.

The former of the two also served as the director for the series’ firs and third installments.

According to Metacritic, The Watcher has received mainly mixed reviews and currently holds a score of 52 out of 100.
