‘It’s more dreary than a one-star documentary’: David Bowie’s ex-wife Angie SLAMS ‘boring’ biopic as she claims the late musician ‘would never have watched it’
David Bowie’s ex-wife Angie has slammed the late star’s biopic Stardust as she claimed the late musician ‘would never have watched it’.
In a new interview, the former model, 71, who was married to the rock icon from 1970 until 1980, described the ‘boring’ film as ‘more dreary than a one-star documentary’ and insisted director Gabriel Range’s efforts to depict his life were ‘a waste of time’.
The movie follows the musician, played by Johnny Flynn, as he attempts to break into the US music industry in 1971 while plagued with doubts over his identity prior to the rise of his iconic alter-ego Ziggy Stardust.

The American media personality – who was informed of her former husband’s death during her stint on Celebrity Big Brother four years ago – told The Mirror: ‘It was a total waste of time. David would never have watched it.
‘The only people who would watch it are people who are obsessed with celebrities. Bowie was a musician. And where was the music? It was boring.
‘I didn’t find it entertaining at all. It’s more dreary than a one-star documentary. It was too neutral and bland and without the music, there is nothing.’
Shortly before its release late last year, it was revealed that Bowie’s family didn’t approve the drama and executive didn’t have rights to his music.

Reality star Angie also accused the film of ‘focusing a lot of drugs’ and denied claims about being treated like a slave during their relationship.
The journalist reflected on the ‘light’ time in their lives as she admitted she ‘didn’t want to be a queen’ and tried to pursue a successful career in acting and directing.
Following the demise of their romance, songwriter David was in a relationship with supermodel Iman, 65, from 1990 until his death. Meanwhile, Angie has been in a relationship with long-term partner Michael Gassett from 1993.
MailOnline has contacted IFC Films for further comment. Bowie is played by singer and actor Johnny while Pride & Prejudice’s Jena Malone portrays Angie.

Along with his band Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, Johnny is also known for roles in Lovesick, Genius and most recently the period drama Emma.
Despite depicting the early days of Bowie’s career, his son Duncan Jones has insisted that the family have no involvement in the making of the film.
Legendary artist David passed in January 2016 at the age of 69 after battling liver cancer, just two days after the release of his acclaimed album Blackstar.
Stardust has been directed by filmmaker Gabriel, who said in a statement to Variety he was striving to see the story behind one of Bowie’s most famous characters.
The writer said: ‘I set out to make a film about what makes someone become an artist; what actually drives them to make their art.
‘That someone is David Bowie, a man we’re used to thinking about as the star he became, or as one of his alter egos: Ziggy Stardust; Aladdin Zane; The Thin White Duke.
‘Someone I only ever saw at a great distance, behind a mask; a godlike, alien presence. Even in his perfectly choreographed death, he didn’t seem like a regular human being.’
Stardust was schedule to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in October, but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. It was released a month later by IFC Films.
