Geordie Shore star’s restaurant closes with £360,000 debts after just two years

Greg Lake has been forced to close his restaurant just two years after opening as his company faces debts of £360,000. The former Geordie Shore star, who appeared on the first series of the hit MTV show, opened the Novo restaurant in Morpeth in 2021 with a Jeanette Lynn, through their company G&L (Morpeth).

But now the Daily Mirror reports that Companies House shows the business has entered a liquidation period, with a liquidator being appointed last month amid debts of £360,000. Documents show that staff are owed £5,561 in holiday pay and arrears, while Greg himself is owed £147,562. Suppliers are also owed huge amounts of money.

Greg remains the company director of his second business GEC Power, which according to the company website helps homeowners, landlords and businesses reduce their carbon footprint "via renewable energy solutions." He was also appointed company director of DWC Morpeth Limited on March 10 2023, but according to Companies House resigned from the position on the same day. OK! has contacted representatives for Greg Lake for comment.

Novo was a favourite haunt for celebs based in the North East of the country, and Vicky Pattison had previously labelled the eatery as her "favourite place." Speaking to Chronicle Live at the time of the restaurant's opening, Greg said: "My girlfriend lives in Morpeth so it's a place I've spent a lot of time in.

"My favourite thing to do is to go out, have food and some good wine and for me, while Morpeth has got a lovely Italian and some good restaurants, there was a gap in the market for a place like Novo. I want Novo to attract every calibre of person, as I believe we cater for all."

Former reality star Greg was previously in a relationship with Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe, with whom he shares son Daye. The pair split in 2020 but have remained on good terms as they co-parent their son, with the trio being snapped earlier this year enjoying a day out in Cheshire.

Announcing their split in August 2020, Jennifer wrote: "Greg and I decided to part ways amicably a couple months ago. We remain friends and we both will continue to happily co-parent Daye and would appreciate privacy during these times. Thank you to everyone who has supported us before, during and after this."

Jennifer was then linked to footballer Chris Eagles, however, they were reported to have split in 2021, while Greg revealed a new relationship when he discussed opening Novo, but it's unclear if he and the mystery woman remain together.
