Gogglebox stars Jenny and Lee wishes viwers a very ‘merry Christmas’
Gogglebox favourites Lee Riley and Jenny Newby took to Instagram to reflect on the 2023 series, after the final episode aired last night. However, the 52-year-old worried his Channel 4 co-star Jenny Newby after he said he had his “fingers crossed” for the duo to return in the new year.
Lee and Jenny joined the popular reality show nearly a decade ago – back in in 2014 – for the fourth series. They are now one of the shows most iconic cast members after being sofa regulars.
The pair took to social media, wishing their 858,000 loyal followers a Merry Christmas before taking a break from filming. In a joint video, they were seen to be sat on Lee’s sofa, where they usually record the programme from.
Jenny wore a festive tartan print top, with her hair in her regular slick updo, while Lee looked casual in a white T-shirt. They said: “Hi everybody, we would just like to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year”.
Lee went onto add: “And thank you for your support over the year for Gogglebox. I hope you have all enjoyed the show, two series”. Jenny said: “I have loved coming to your house on a Friday.”

However, Lee interrupted and confessed, “fingers crossed”.
Jenny rushed to question her pal and co-star, while sporting a worried look across her face.
Scolding Lee, she exclaimed: “What do you mean ‘fingers crossed’? Where are you going?”

Wrapping up the video, Lee said to their fans “see you all next year”.
The show is reported to be back on the small screens in 2024.
Although, on Friday, Channel 4 aired a repeat of the programme’s sister show Celebrity Gogglebox, which left fans unimpressed.
Calling for a new series, fans expected a brand new episode.
Instead, the programme featured a best bits montage from the series that had aired earlier this year.
Channel 4 described the episode as: “A collection of the best bits as the celebs hit the sofa for top TV including Five Star Kitchen: Britain’s Next Great Chef, The 1% Club, Hijack, Antiques Roadshow and The Yorkshire Vet.”
Feeling disappointed, fans took to X [formerly known as Twitter] to share their views.
One wrote: “Erm what part New celebrity gogglebox is new when it’s clear repeat.”
A second penned: “#gogglebox it’s not for me anymore it’s had it’s time now it’s just boring, like watching a repeat over and over.”
A third chimed: “Nothing worse than settling down to watch a fun recap of the latest telly after a long week, only to realise its a #Gogglebox repeat.”
