Alex Beresford was left “gutted” as his weather series has been dropped.

The Good Morning Britain weatherman’s ITV1 series All About Britain, which he co-hosted with Rita Hebden, has been axed after two series.

The much-loved meteorologist launched the programme back in 2021.

He revealed they “won’t be making any more episodes” in a new interview ahead of his appearance on Celebrity Race Across The World as broke the news on Sunday.

“We had a brilliant time exploring and celebrating places such as Blackpool, The Eden Project in Cornwall and Edinburgh but we won’t be making any more episodes,” he told The Sun.

“However, I am working on another project for ITV, details of which will be revealed shortly.”

The series saw the duo travel up and down the UK with the pair exploring the Channel Islands, from ancient castles to the walls of Jersey’s capital, St Helier, in the first episode.

But after failing to make a lasting impression with viewers, Alex revealed it has been axed.

The on-screen forecaster is not too disappointed as he confirmed he will be back in due course as works on a new project with the broadcaster but could not give away many details.

Meanwhile, Alex will be taking on a new challenge as the forecaster teams up with his dad Noel for BBC’s Celebrity Race Across The World, as they attempt to make the trip from Morocco to Norway, taking in 24 countries en route.

The ITV presenter admitted his wife Imogen McKay was “upset” to be left out of taking part as Alex opted to travel with his dad instead.

The show sees stars leave their mobile phones and credit cards behind to travel thousands of miles in a bid to win £20,000.

Explaining his reasoning behind the decision, Alex told Radio Times: “You don’t get to spend this sort of time with your parents as an adult.

“Imogen was upset, as she loves travelling and she’s a fan of the show.

“But, as much as I love her and spending time with her, I’m not sure this was the honeymoon she’d want!

“With hindsight, I think I made the right decision,” he added.

Celebrity Race Across the World will see four pairs of celebrities take a journey across 24 countries from Morocco to Norway.
