Helen Flanagan is mum shamed as she asks her son for kisses

Helen Flanagan is cruelly mum-shamed as she asks her son Charlie, 2, for kisses while posting about his ‘off the scale’ tantrums

Helen Flanagan has been mum shamed for her latest Instagram post about her toddler son Charlie.

The mother of three, who split from her children’s father Scott Sinclair last year, shared sweet photos of herself and her youngest, two-year-old Charlie, on Tuesday as she revealed he had been having ‘off the scale tantrums’.

Helen, 32, shared a series of photos as she shared kisses with Charlie, joking in the caption that she was ‘trying to get pictures with my two year old.’

The post was soon flooded with comments with some criticising Helen’s parenting, asking: ‘Why do you constantly ask your kids for kiss after kiss…like it’s not normal plus the way you talk to them is like you are talking to puppies.’

Sweet: The mother of three, who split from her children’s father Scott Sinclair last year, shared sweet photos of herself and her youngest, two-year-old Charlie as they played and kissed

‘You need to act like there mum…they need tough love and disaplin [sic]’ the commenter continued.

Another asked: ‘Have you ever thought they don’t want photos and kisses all the time. I’ve never known anyone to ask their kids for kiss after kiss ???’

Helen’s fans rushed to defend her against the mum shaming comments, with one pointing out: ‘Sod off I ask for kisses a lot when they r wee cos soon enough they r teenager and u get nothing,’

‘It’s a parenting style and is completely okay,’ agreed another.

‘They are only little once, not all kids need tough love,’ read another supportive comment.

Others argued that Helen was only sharing a tiny snippet of her day online, with one supporter writing: ‘We see 2 seconds on Instagram. How do we know she isn’t playing with him the rest of the time. Also most celebrities get paid to use instagram.’

‘You do realise that this is a photo taken in a few seconds out of a day. So the other 23hours plus you have no idea about. Shes a loving Mum, the world needs more people like her. Stop putting women/Mothers down,’ wrote another.

Helen later hit back at the comments, reposting one which criticised her for co-sleeping with her daughter Delilah, five, and suggesting she will ‘regret’ her parenting style.

‘Very strange some comments on Instagram,’ Helen wrote. ‘As a mum I want my kids to feel really loved and happy and safe and I’m affectionate and I co sleep because that’s how Delilah is happier and Don’t want her to cry, she will grow out of it.’

She shared more of the cruel messages, commenting ‘Vile comments. I just love my kids.’

Reality star Helen, who recently appeared on I’m A Celebrity… South Africa, is also mum to daughter Matilda, seven with her ex Scott, 32, who she split from last year after 13 years together.

The former Coronation Street actress recently returned from a lavish trip to the Spanish island, where she documented herself partying it up at swanky day club O Beach and other party hotspots.

Having previously spoken out about adjusting to life as a single mother and needing some ‘adult time’ to her herself after splitting from her long-term love, footballer Scott Sinclair, she was joined by good friend and makeup artist Ashley Elizabeth.

And while many fans praised the star for letting her hair down, others were quick to criticise her for being without her children.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Helen screen-shotted a comment she had received underneath one of her posts.

It read: ‘You need to spend more time with your kids’.

Hitting back, Helen shared in response on her social media: ‘I have never been on a girls’ holiday like that before as I’ve always stayed at home looking after the kids. Why is everything always on women?’

Last month, Helen spoke out on adjusting to life as a single mother, saying she needs some ‘adult time’ to her herself.

The former Corrie actress took to her Instagram Stories to discuss the issues she’s having getting her daughter Delilah, five, into a good sleep pattern.

Television personality Helen, who admitted she felt emotional as spent her first weekend alone without her children earlier this month, has welcomed her offspring back to her home, but admitted there are some habits she’d like to change with them.

She explained: ‘I fell asleep with the kids last night. So Delilah does this thing where she will not go to sleep without me, not a chance, she will just scream and scream and scream.

‘I have spoken to Scott’s mum and I think we’re going to get them in a different routine. Gosh, she’s nearly five, but honestly, she won’t go to sleep without me. She literally has to sleep right there (next to her face).

‘So usually what I do, I pretend I’m going to sleep and then when she’s asleep I sneak out the room. Anyway, I didn’t, I fell asleep and I fell asleep in my contact lenses. Great!

‘But also I need my own adult time even if it’s just like I’m watching something I want to watch or I can speak to my friends. I just need that switch off.

‘I would say I was well rested but my eyeballs hurt and we were up early this morning. ‘

Helen has said co-parenting with Scott is ‘pretty drama-free,’ insisting they have been doing everything they can to make things easier for the kids since their split.

She told The Sun: ‘I co-parent with Scott. We were together for a long time. So he lives with his mum in Bristol and I live in Manchester with the kids. I get on really well with Scott’s mum.

Still friends: Helen has said co-parenting with Scott is ‘pretty drama-free,’ insisting they have been doing everything they can to make things easier for the kids since their split

‘I was with Scott aged 19-31, so that’s why I get on so well with his mum. So honestly it makes my life so easy because we hang out together. It’s really nice. It’s pretty drama free as I get on really well with her.

‘The kids see their dad all the time, they see their nana a lot. We’re always in Birmingham a lot to meet with the kids halfway.

‘The kids have an amazing time when they are with me too. I have a friend that helps me because obviously, I work as well. I work nearly every day so I do have a friend that comes to help me because well, I’m not a superwoman.

‘We do mum things, the kids all have different activities too. Then when they go to their dad, they have a lovely time with him. They’ve just been to Dubai actually for a week with their dad and had a lovely time. So I missed them when they were away, but it was a shock to my system when they were back.’
