I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here suffered yet another ratings blow with only 7.1 million viewers tuning in for the finale on Sunday.

He is now the reigning champion taking over from Giovanna Fletcher who was crowned last year in a finale watched by 12.1 million.
Another hit: I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here suffered yet another ratings blow with only 7.1 million viewers tuning in for the finale on Sunday where Danny Miller was crowned
The series had been on a continuous decline throughout the week in the wake of Storm Arwen, which forced the ITV show off air for three days.
It’s a steep decline from the success of last year’s finale, which became the most watched show of the year during the midst of another lockdown.
Despite the dip from its ratings heyday, the I’m A Celebrity finale was still the third most-watched show of the day, following on from Boris Johnson’s Covid statement on BBC One (peak 9.8m) and Strictly Come Dancing’s result show (peak 10.4m).
The finale failed to bring the same viewers as the launch show, which saw a peak of nine million tuning in to watch the celebrities move into Wales’ Gwrych Castle.

Ups and downs: While the viewing figures have varied the dips were not as extreme as this year
On Sunday Danny was crowned the first king of the castle, becoming the first male celebrity to win the show following its relocation to Gwrych Castle in north Wales – and later admitted he signed up so he could provide for his baby son.

Danny wasn’t able to be reunited with his seven-week old son Albert or his fiancée Steph as he left the castle due to Covid restrictions stopping families waiting for them as they leave.
His triumph followed a series of setbacks for the beleaguered show, which has been routinely hampered by freak weather storms since its launch in November, among them Storm Arwen.
The powerful extratropical cyclone battered the makeshift camp with torrential rain and powerful winds, halting production for the first time in the show’s 21 year history and prompting bosses to place the cast in temporarily isolation bubbles for their own safety.
During his exit interview with Ant and Dec, Danny admitted that he took part in the show to set up his baby son Albert with a better future, telling the hosts: ‘I wanted to be able to give him the future he deserves, I wasn’t in a position to do that.’
He then said on the intensity of the castle: ‘When you’re up, you’re up and then you get homesick and it lowers the mood.’
Danny also said that his man crush and idol David Ginola in the castle ‘exceeded [his] expectations’ and that ‘he was the reason why I wanted to be a winger.’
Later in the show, he spoke as he sat on the throne for the first time and admitted: ‘I can’t believe it. Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it!’
