‘They’re the real deal’: Johnny Depp is ‘seriously dating’ British lawyer who represented him in 2020 libel trial, works for Prince Harry and Meghan’s law firm, and is going through divorce from the father of her two kids

Johnny Depp is reportedly in a ‘serious’ relationship with a London-based attorney who represented him in his unsuccessful 2020 libel trial against British newspaper The Sun.
Joelle Rich, 37, is a partner at major international law firm Schillings – who also represent Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – and is currently going through a divorce from the father of her two children, whom she was married to when she worked with Depp, 59, four years ago.
However, UsWeekly reports that Rich and her husband, Jonathan, a director at corporate finance group Bluebox whom she wed in 2011, are in the midst of a divorce – with a source claiming to the publication that the lawyer’s relationship with Depp is ‘serious’.
‘Their chemistry is off the charts,’ the insider said. ‘It’s serious between them. They are the real deal.’
Although Rich represented Depp in his trial against The Sun – which he lost in a verdict that his lawyers branded ‘perverse’ and ‘bewildering’ – she was not part of the legal team in his recent defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.
But, the source said that while Rich had ‘no professional obligation’ during the trial, she was present in the courtroom in order to offer ‘support’ to the Pirates of the Caribbean star, noting that the case was ‘personal’ for her.

Rich is not to be confused with another pretty brunette lawyer Depp has worked with, 38-year-old Camille Vasquez, who was a part of his team for the Heard defamation trial, during which rumors swirled that she was enjoying a romance with the actor.
Vasquez denied all speculation about a romance with the star – and DailyMail.com later revealed that she was in fact in a relationship with British WeWork executive Edward Owen.
Depp and Heard split in 2017 after tying the knot in 2015.
According to Us Weekly, Depp’s alleged relationship with Rich began ‘discreetly’, with the outlet’s insider claiming that the pair would meet up in hotels during the earliest days of their romance.
Rich is currently still wed to her husband, however the pair are understood to be formally separated.
The brunette beauty is in the process of getting divorced, TMZ added. She and her estranged husband share two children.
Jonathan and Joelle tied the knot in a Tuscany ceremony in July 2011, according to a bridal photo shoot that the then-bride-to-be did for Brides magazine alongside her mother Ava.
Rich was raised in London, where she attended North London Collegiate School, a private school that currently charges £22,308 ($25,146) per year, before earning an undergraduate law degree at the University of Birmingham.
Before taking up a job at Schillings – just one month after her wedding – Rich was a trainee solicitor at DLA Piper in London, where she focused on intellectual property, media, and sport litigation.
According to her bio on the website for Schillings, an international firm that specializes in reputation management and represents the likes of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and actress Emma Watson, Rich ‘works to defend [clients’] reputations against false and defamatory allegations in print, online, and on social media.’
Her focus is to guard her clients’ ‘privacy from unwarranted intrusion and media attention.’
News of Depp’s alleged relationship with Rich comes after he faced furious speculation that he was enjoying a romance with attorney Vasquez, although she quickly slammed the rumors as ‘sexist’.
‘It’s also an unethical charge being made,’ Vasquez told People in June.
‘It’s unfortunate and it’s disappointing, but at the same time it kind of comes with the territory. I can’t say I was all that surprised.’

Depp filed two separate lawsuits about his relationship with Heard.
One was in June 2018 against The Sun. The publication called him a ‘wife beater’ as they took information from Heard.
The trial was in July 2020 but four months later, the U.K.’s High Court of Justice ruled that The Sun’s article was not libelous.
Rich said she ‘seriously questioned’ the U.K. judge’s decision and there were plans to appeal.
Then Depp sued Heard over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post where she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence.
In June, the jury ruled in favor of Depp and Heard was ordered to pay him $10.35 million in damages.
Depp claimed to have lost movie roles after Heard’s accusations that he abused her. But after he won the defamation case, he had a career resurgence.
His return to popularity was cemented when he appeared at the 2022 MTV VMAs in a moon suit.
