Justin Timberlake 'unaware' Janet Jackson was asked to forgive him

Justin Timberlake was ‘completely unaware’ that his former manager Johnny Wright urged Janet Jackson to forgive the star over their now-infamous 2004 Super Bowl performance

Justin Timberlake may have to ask his former manager to stop speaking on his behalf.

The 40-year-old singer was ‘completely unaware’ that his ex-manager Johnny Wright asked Janet Jackson to forgive the star for exposing her breast during their now-infamous Super Bowl performance in 2004.

‘Justin was not aware of his comment to her. Johnny did this all on his own,’ a source close to the performer reportedly told Page Six on Friday.

After the Rhythm Nation singer, 54, shared an inspirational quote urging her followers to ‘always chose to heal, not to hurt’ and ‘to forgive, not to despise’, Wright suggested she follow the mantra by repairing her relationship with Timberlake.

‘You should take this advice and to apply it to your relationship with Justin,’ he allegedly wrote under Jackson’s Instagram in screenshots captured and shared by her followers on Twitter.

While it is unclear whether Wright or Jackson deleted the comment, fans of the five-time Grammy were enraged on her behalf.

‘Janet don’t owe Justin a damn thing. Especially not her forgiveness after Justin refused to apologize to her FOR YEARS. Respect Black Women. Period,’ one fan pointed out.

The two performers have yet to respond to Wright’s comments. He started managing Timberlake when he was one fifth of the hit boy band *NSYNC in the 1990’s.

These developments come less than two months after he issued an apology to Jackson for tearing off her costume during their performance, in what they said was an accident at the time, but for which she was crucified.

In the long Instagram post, Timberlake said: ‘I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually, because I care for and respect these women and I know I failed.’

The apology came after he was tagged in social media posts about Spears and the campaign to release her from a conservatorship held by her father.

It was recently highlighted in the documentary Framing Britney Spears, which lays bare how Spears has, according to her fans, been exploited by the men in her life.

Coincidence: Coincidentally, Wright and his Wright Entertainment Group also managed Spears between 1999 and 2003; he and Timberlake are here in 2014

Fans say that Timberlake is one of them. He and Spears dated from 1999 until 2002 after meeting while starring on the Mickey Mouse Club as kids and became a major Hollywood ‘it couple.’ They split abruptly and rumors soon emerged that she’d cheated on him.

It’s unclear if Timberlake has been in touch with the women to apologize privately. Neither of them has responded publicly to his apology.

Coincidentally, Wright and his Wright Entertainment Group also managed Spears between 1999 and 2003.

In 2007, he sued the Slumber Party performer for more than $15,000, alleging she failed to pay for work he helped produce. The two reportedly settled in 2009 on undisclosed terms.

Infamous performance: In 2004, Timberlake, then 23, performed with Janet Jackson, then 38, at the Super Bowl. At the end of the performance, he tore off her costume to expose her breast. The moment afterwards is shown
