Kate Middleton is said to have broken down in tears when details of her dress were leaked ahead of her wedding day in 2011.
The Duchess of Cambridge, now 39, looked breathtaking in a white bridal gown designed by Sarah Burton, who is creative director of Alexander McQueen, when she wed Prince William in April 2011.
The subject of what Kate would wear on her special day was much discussed and highly anticipated in the build up to Kate and Prince William’s nuptials, which was watched across the globe by millions of fans.
Months of planning went into Kate’s gorgeous look and the dress and its maker were not formally announced until Kate stepped from her car to enter Westminster Abbey to marry her Prince.

But, Kate’s dress designer was leaked to the press a month before she was due to tie the knot, with a source at the time quoted as telling The Sunday Times that Sarah Burton was selected by Kate “on grounds of her quirky elegance, discretion and low profile”.
The source also claimed to the publication that the dress would “be a combination of Middleton's own design ideas and Burton's deep knowledge and understanding of high fashion”.
When quizzed by the publication chief executive of Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Akeroyd, denied that the label or Sarah Burton were involved in designing the bridal gown.
He said at the time: “No, not at all. I am the CEO. I would know if we were doing it.”
While designer Sara added: “I am not doing it” when quizzed about the royal commission.
Kate’s chosen designer and the stunning gown itself was confirmed on her wedding day but the Duchess, whose youngest son Prince Louis recently turned three, is said to have been upset over the details of her gown being leaked early.
Speaking in a recent Channel 5 documentary Secrets of the Royal Dressmakers, royal expert Kate Nicholl told of the Duchess of Cambridge’s upset.
Kate Nicholl said: “Behind the scenes I think that caused tears at the Palace because Kate had done everything she could to keep the wedding dress a secret.”
But, the humble Duchess didn’t let the sadness over her dress overshadow her big day as she was seen smiling from start to finish.
Designer Sarah attended Kate’s wedding and styled her dress before she walked down the aisle to make sure everything was perfectly placed.

Kate’s dress was well received by fashion experts and royal fans. Karl Lagerfeld wrote how the gown reminded him of the Queen’s own bridal attire.
He told France 2 Television at the time: “The dress is classic and goes very well in the Westminster decor.
“It almost reminds me of (Queen) Elizabeth's wedding, the royal weddings in the (19)50s. The proportion of the train is good. The lace is very pretty. I like the veil a lot.”
