Made In Chelsea star Lucy Watson has revealed she plans on bringing up her baby as a vegan after she made a “promise to the animals”.
The TV star, 33, is expecting her first child with her husband and fellow Made In Chelsea star James Dunmore. Lucy announced the exciting news earlier this week when she shared a picture on Instagram and debuted her blossoming baby bump. The reality star softly cradled her bump as she posed with James on a sun-drenched balcony.
She captioned the post: "our little miracle."
Following the surprise announcement, Lucy took to Instagram to take part in a Q&A with her followers where she revealed she will be having a “Pisces baby” and that she will be raising the baby on a meat and dairy-free diet.
Lucy was asked: “How is like being vegan and pregnant? Will you raise your baby vegan?”.
The mum to be revealed she had “so many questions about veganism” before going into detail about her personal journey.
Lucy said: “So many questions about veganism, whether I’m still vegan ect… for me veganism is a promise I made to the animals, one I will never break. No matter what”.
The star continued: “In terms of my diet, I’ve made a conscious effort to eat less processed food and more whole foods. Also- protein. I made sure I got atleast 60g a day, protein is the building blocks of life and essential to grow a baby. Very achievable to get everything you need on a vegan diet, you just need to make a conscious effort, such as with any diet, to meet all nutritional needs. I have also been taking the ritual pre natal throughout lead up to conception and now being pregnant.”
Lucy then revealed she had many people tell her that she needs to “give up the vegan diet” as it is “stopping” her from getting pregnant. However she hit back and said: “that is not the case, and for anyone else dealing with the same doubts, I can assure you it is and can be a very healthy approach to pregnancy.
“There are people who are crack addicts and get pregnant, being vegan is not going to stop you”.
The reality star then stated: “and yes, our baby will be vegan”.
Lucy and James’ happy news comes after Lucy's younger sister Tiffany welcomed a baby boy called Jude in recent months. She excitedly commented on Lucy’s pregnancy announcement: "I’m so happy and excited. can’t wait! Love you both so much."
