Tuesday night’s Married At First Sight UK saw newlywed Sophie Brown break down in tears over her husband Jonathan Wileman’s harsh comments about womens’ weight.
In emotional scenes during the couples’ retreat, Sophie got upset when Gemma Rose declared that Jonathan was the guy she’d least like to be paired with, as she referred to his previous remark that he didn’t want to be with a woman with muscly ‘horse legs’.
But while wife cried over his brutal comments, he risked upsetting her even further as at the same time, he confessed to the boys that he didn’t want to rip her clothes off, causing angry viewers to brand him ‘misogynistic’.

As the wives and husbands sat separately to discuss their relationships, they were asked several questions, with one being which of the husband’s they’d least like to be matched with.
With Gemma, whose own husband Matt cheated with Whitney, answered ‘Jonathan’ without skipping a beat, Sophie became emotional as she Gemma explained that her reasoning was because Jonathan said he preferred Sophie to stay a certain weight in order to find her attractive.
As she was comforted by Chanita and Thomas, Sophie sobbed: ‘His comments about what to do in the gym or that you wouldn’t date a fat person you know what if I got big?
‘I said to him you know if I love you then that’s it. That’s it, that’s what I see.

‘But he’s just very brutally honest.’

In a candid moment with the other husband’s, he shared that there was something missing with the businesswoman as he explained: ‘Sometimes you meet someone and you want to just rip their clothes off.
‘That intensity, that…it’s just a feeling you have between each other. Not necessarily just you, but it’s reciprocated and it’s there.’

To which joiner Jonathan replied: ‘Well…yeah.’
Viewers at home were not impressed with Matt’s comments, with one tweeting: ‘Jonathan is a 32 years old stuck in a 16 year old mentality.’
While a second fumed: ‘So disappointed to see that Jonathan has turned out to be quite a misogynistic, manipulative caveman. Sophie’s confident personality is being rapidly diminished before our eyes.’
