Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York has expressed her deepest sadness and condolences, after her former assistant Jenean Chapman was murdered at the age of 46, in Dallas, Texas.
The 63 year old author and mother to Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, shared the sad news of Jenean’s death on Friday when she paid tribute to her former assistant, who was found dead in her Dallas apartment on Monday 25 September.
In a heartbroken Instagram post, Fergie wrote: "I am shocked and saddened to learn that Jenean Chapman, who worked with me as my personal assistant many years ago, has been murdered in Dallas aged just 46. A suspect is in custody.”
She then continued: “Jenean was loyal, hardworking, beautiful and fun and my heart breaks for her family and friends. I heard from her just a couple of months ago and she seemed so happy. Her family is raising money to transport her body back to New York City and pay for legal and funeral costs.”
She then concluded the post by writing: “I will be making a donation and supporting the family in any way possible – please help if you can at the link in my bio.”
Jenean’s body was discovered earlier this week, when police were called to her home at 1:15 p.m on 25 September.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Jenean dead, with the death initially treated as “unexplained” by the police.
The case was then referred to the medical examiner, who the following day, later concluded she had been murdered.
At this time, her cause of death has yet to be publicly revealed.
After Jenean’s identity was publicly shared, her grieving family released a statement as they struggled to come to terms with the loss of such a pivotal member of their family.
Speaking to NBC DFW, Crystal Marshall, one of Chapman's three sisters told the network: "We're just in shock, and we're trying to gather ourselves and collect all the missing pieces of information.
Another of Jenean’s sisters, Nicole also shared her grief as she said: “We’re in a state of shock. Definitely feel blindsided. We're trying to be a support system for our mother, but it's just a really hard time.”
"She's had a plethora of accolades throughout the years, and then in her last role, she was a senior vice president at Critical Mass over digital marketing. Also, in conjunction with that, she was about to start her own business," added Crystal.
Following the shocking discovery of Jenean’s body, police arrested a 46 year old man in connection with the investigation.
He is now facing a murder charge and is currently in custody.
