Selling Sunset viewers brand Jason a 'time waster'

‘He’s wasted her time!’ Selling Sunset viewers slam Jason for dating Chrishell, 40, for six months before finally deciding he DOESN’T want kids – leading to their split

Selling Sunset viewers have branded Jason Oppenheim a ‘time waster’ for dating his co-star Chrishell Stause for six months before realising that he didn’t want to start a family with her.

Season 5 of the hit Netflix real estate show sees Chrishell, 40, and Jason, 45, start a relationship and then break up when he eventually tells her he doesn’t want kids.

But fans have pointed out that he shouldn’t have supported her with freezing her eggs or gone with her to fertility appointments if he was eventually going to change his mind.

Oh no: Selling Sunset viewers have branded Jason Oppenheim a ‘time waster’ for dating his co-star Chrishell Stause for six months before realising that he didn’t want to start a family with her (pictured last summer)

Chrishell shocked many when she confirmed in July 2021 that she started dating Jason, though the relationship ended just five months later in December.

During past series of the show and at the start of this season Chrishell made no secret of the fact that she wanted to start a family and how she was worried her time was running out to have kids as she had just turned 40.

Speaking with Us Weekly recently Jason admitted he was ‘a bit raw still’ after their break-up and said he wasn’t looking forward to watching the season back.

Upset: Season 5 of the hit Netflix real estate show saw Chrishell, 40, and Jason, 45, start a relationship and then break up when he eventually told her he didn’t want kids

One said on Twitter about Jason’s behaviour: ‘I don’t like Chrishell, but Jason is an a**hole for that relationship. He knew he was never going to change his mind, and he let her fall in love with him knowing what she wanted. He’s the true villain of the season!’

Another said: ‘So lets get this straight, Jason went on tv and said that he wants a baby with Chrishell, told her to fertilize her eggs, took her to the doctors, talked about how he is reconsidering having kids only for them to break up because he doesn’t want kids?’

A third wrote: ‘Jason is like 50 years old if you don’t want kids just say that why is he putting Chrishell through it! #SellingSunset.’

Someone else said: ‘It annoys me how much Jason messed with Chrishell’s head bc he made so many comments about a future w her, literally went through the whole process of getting embryos implanted or whatever just to decide he doesn’t want a baby after all. Wasted her time!’

Reaction: But fans have pointed out that he shouldn’t have supported her with freezing her eggs or gone with her to fertility appointments if he was eventually going to change his mind

Others pointed out that Chrishell was right to end the relationship if he wasn’t going to give her what he wanted.

One wrote: ‘Some of y’all are so dumb making fun of Chrishell for breaking up with Jason cause he doesn’t want a kid, when this is a MAJOR reason to do so. Why would you stay with someone who doesn’t see the same future as you, are y’all that dense?’

It comes after Jason said of the split last week: ‘I think that I made the right decision for myself, but also I think it’s just extremely difficult,’ adding he still and will ‘always’ love her.

Jason is also not looking forward to having to relive their romance and film a reunion once season five premieres April 22.

Not happy: One wrote in reaction: ‘Jason is like 50 years old if you don’t want kids just say that why is he putting Chrishell through it! #SellingSunset’

‘It’s far more difficult than I thought and it’s gonna take a lot longer than I thought,’ he admitted. ‘It doesn’t help that I have to rewatch it and then go to a reunion and talk about it. It’s gonna be a tough few weeks ahead.’

Jason’s friend Mary Fitzgerald recently weighed in on the split, admitting it ‘wasn’t fun.’

The reality star, 41, explained how she and her husband Romain Bonnet, 28, have been ‘trying to help both of them out’ and will ‘support them 100 per cent’.

Mary has now told The Mirror: ‘There were times during that initial period when they first broke up, it wasn’t fun to have to say, ‘Okay are we gonna have this group or this group?’ but they needed space for that short period of time.’

Brave: Others pointed out that Chrishell was right to end the relationship if he wasn’t going to give her what he wanted

‘And luckily both of them are very mature and they both understand that both of us being good friends to the other one, we’re not ever going to betray their trust.’

While she and her toyboy partner are still friends with both the exes, the realtor claimed they won’t ‘ever betray their trust’ due to their loyalty.

Romain added how ‘they knew it was better to stop it’ because of their ‘different visions of the future’.

He told the publication: ‘I think they wanted different things, they knew that they had different visions of the future so it was just better for both of them because they couldn’t give each other what they wanted.’

While her romantic relationship with Jason only lasted a few months, Chrishell still reunited with him and his twin brother Brett to wish them a happy 45th birthday.

The actress was spotted taking selfies with both of the founders of The Oppenheim Group, outside their office on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood last week.

She also took to her Instagram story to share a brief video of her with the birthday boys, and some of their fans gathered outside their office.

Stause also took to her Instagram story to share a video, where she stated, ‘Saying happy birthday to the guys,’ while turning the camera on the Oppenheim twins.

Emotional: It comes after Jason said of the split last week: ‘I think that I made the right decision for myself, but also I think it’s just extremely difficult’

She added that they, ‘took a few photos’ while turning the camera to show a few fans waving to the camera.

‘It’s a popular day at The Oppenheim Group,’ she concluded, while fans are heard saying, ‘Happy birthday’ in the background.

Stause was married to This Is Us star Justin Hartley for just over two years before Hartley filed for divorce due to irreconcilable differences.

She confirmed in July 2021 that she started dating Jason, though the relationship ended in December 2021.
