Aldi Specialbuys are unique and exciting products that can be found online and in store. They cover a wide range of activities and hobbies and launch each week with bargain prices. The latest launch from the discount retailer caused some shoppers to be stuck in huge virtual queues.
With the UK easing its lockdown restrictions next week, garden gatherings are back on the cards.
This comes as part of the Government’s plan to reopen society after the UK’s third national lockdown.
Next week, the stay at home rule will end and people will be able to meet outside or in a private garden in groups of up to six or with one other household, providing social distancing rules are still met.
However with the weather still being chilly, Aldi launched its new garden range at the weekend which included its £39.99 patio heater and a £349.99 Kamado egg-shaped BBQ.
A message on the Aldi website, posted at 7:30am on Sunday, read: “We are sorry for your wait, our garden products are being restocked.
“If you miss out this time, more stock is arriving over the coming week.”
Aldi shoppers took to the dedicated Aldi Shoppers UK Facebook group, showing that more than 11,000 people were in front of her in the queue.
Another person explained that they had more than 15,000 people in front of them, with a wait time of up to an hour.

One shopper said: “There is such a long wait to get onto the site currently…the items will be all sold out.”
Another wrote: “I can’t find the patio heater online, it says buy online from today but I can’t even see if it’s sold out? Has anyone managed to get one?”
A third commented: “Heater sold out….gutted.”
Another explained: “This would have been perfect for our family gathering in the garden, I wanted it so bad.”
Other customers shared that when they managed to get into the site, all the items were completely sold out.
The majority of the gardening Specialbuys will be available to pick up in Aldi stores from Thursday, although some items are online exclusives.
The supermarket’s garden range includes a variety of outdoor lights, garden furniture, decor as well as plants and flowers to get the garden summer ready.
Aldi’s Specialbuy items have been increasingly popular in the last year, with its hanging egg chair selling out in minutes.
The £149.99 hanging egg chair came back in February due to popular demand but sold out within minutes.
Shoppers were placed into a virtual queue with wait times of up to an hour.
Customers took to the Aldi Shoppers UK Facebook page to express how angry they were to have missed out on buying one.
One person wrote: “Really disappointed with Aldi today.”
Another said: “Come on Aldi, 8am your ads say the egg chair will be available. Here we are at 7am and they are all gone. When did you list them and is this how you usually operate?”
For those heading to search for Specialbuys in store, Aldi has a number of safety measures that customers must still follow despite the easing of lockdown rules.
The discount supermarket is still asking customers to shop alone and adhere to its one shopper, one trolley rule.
Aldi said: “Our shelves are well stocked throughout the day. Our busiest time is between 11am-3pm, so by extending our hours you have more time to shop safely.”
The supermarket has also extended its click and collect service as well as being available on Deliveroo.
