Body positive influencer Nelly London stripped down to a black thong to encourage fans to love their natural bodies.

The self-love preaching beauty, from Brighton, wishes standards of beauty were more diverse.

For her latest post, she told her 485,000 Instagram followers about the importance of showcasing a broad range of people in the media.

Ditching her clothes to flash her curves in lingerie, she struck a pose and embraced her natural skin texture.

Nelly said: “How would you have grown up differently if you had seen your body type represented?

“If you had seen your body shape on billboards, if you have seen your skin colour in magazines, if you had seen your tummy on TV?”

Nelly continued: “If you saw actual skin texture in advert. If you saw body hair in books.

“I think about these things all the time, and I know we would have grown up more at peace with our bodies, more accepting of ourselves, with less unrealistic expectations of how we were supposed to look.

“Sadly we didn’t grow up with those things, and I know loads of us a bit f****d up because of it (hi me) but at least we can fill our world with them now.”

Inspired by Nelly’s post, many people fled to the comments to share how they thought they would have grown up differently if they saw their body type represented – and others praised the message.

One person commented: “I think about this a lot too, I would have suffered a lot less growing up.

"I'm so grateful for accounts like yours for being real! more of this forever pls.”

Another user added: “Lovely tiger stripes.”

While a third person voiced: “I really hope my kids will grow up seeing their body type on mainstream media… Because I would have needed that as a kid soo much!”

Someone else praised: “I’m having such an awful time with my stretch marks at the moment. They’re making it hard for me to not be fully clothed ALL the time.

"Posts like these help me so much.”

Meanwhile, a fifth user expressed: “Wouldn’t have hated my body for so many years, I would have understood that some bodies look like that and had a deeper appreciation for my body and all that it does.

“Less judgement, more love.”

Previously, Nelly opened up about her long journey with her breasts after her chest reduction surgery went wrong. She recently went under the knife again to get ‘round’ nipples after her original surgery 10 years ago left them “misshapen".

The influencer explained: "I haven't had round nipples in nearly 10 years. They were completely changed after my first operation and subsequent scarring and I didn't even think it would be possible to get them back to a 'normal' shape, but it has happened. They weren't just a little but 'wonky', they were completely misshapen.”
